  1. Mr. Ricci's latest gesture seem fair, sensible, and entirely appropriate. I've said as much on the aforementioned thread. Seems a pity that people sometimes have to get so damned crossways with each other before common sense takes over. But "from the oyster comes the pearl" as Bird was fond of quoting (whom, I have no idea. I'm self-taught that way). Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled programming!
  2. Patricia was on the original list (which seems to have also been deleted) as "Still Life". Not sure about the others.
  3. Points valid, all, but another way to look at is what if you had a neighbor who you liked ok but didn't really socialize with all that much who came to your door one day and said their phone was out and they needed to make a few calls to get things straightened out? Would you turn him away? I wouldn't, and I'd even offer them the opportunity to make a few more calls (local, of course...) if they needed to. No harm done to me, my neighbor appreciates it, and neither one of us has a bad taste in our mouths about the other, even if we don't get all chummy afterwards. Someday I might need a favor from him, you know?
  4. Hate to beat a dead horse, but it seems as if Mr. Ricci has closed the thread completely, as well as deleting a rather pointed-but-civil (and dead-on accurate IMO) post by Ghost. But not before shooting another one Dan's way. I guess that's that!
  5. It's funny, I like yogurt (the real stuff as well as the "candy") quite a bit, but buttermilk just doesn't do it for me. Go figure.
  6. From what I know of the Riverside racing records, they were of American races - Sebring, Daytona, etc. Might have been some others though. I've come across some over the years, some cheap, and some not. On occasion, I've almost bought them as curiosities. but I always pulled back just in time. Even geeks have thier limits!
  7. You know what else buttermilk is good for? Marinating chicken in overnight before frying it. My grandmother used to do that, and she made the best fried chicken in the history of the world.
  8. What was up with those Riverside "car race" records anyway? Did they really sell?
  9. It was all a dream, and I'm in the shower.
  10. My son's high school band holds their annual banquet at Southfork Ranch (yes, it's a real place). Pretty good food, actually. So, hey, I've been touched by greatness!
  11. Yeah, what's up with THAT?
  12. Is Dutch buttermilk not sour? Perhaps I would like it!
  13. Oh GOD yes! (see, the kids of today don't even know what buttermilk is!) Buttermilk is milk that has been allowed to slightly sour, but is still safe. Originally it was the remnant fluid left from churning butter. Today, it's manufactured under controlled conditions. It's sorta thick, and leaves a residue on the side of your glass. Sound nasty? It is, but the old folks sure loved it!
  14. Good in recipies, etc., but do you actually drink this rancid fluid? When I was a kid, all the old folks did, so I thought that when I got to be one of them that I'd like it. Nope, not yet. I hope never. My grandmother used to LOVE to get day old cornbread, pour buttermilk all over it, sprinkle a little sugar on it, and eat that. Consumption seems to be down. I used to see it in ALL the stores. Now in a lot of places it's more of a "specialty" item. Plus, just yesterday, I saw it being sold in pints for the first time. Useful for recipies, that size is, and you're not left with a bunch of goop to throw out. Whither goest thou, oh buttermilk? Hast thy nastiness at last been recognized?
  15. Thanks. Pigmeat Markham SWUNG!
  16. I just remembered that Jonah Jones has a substantial catalog on EMI, so there's JoJo fer ya.
  17. Well, HERE'S a distinct lack of ambivalence for ya'!
  18. Perhaps some clarification is needed. Today, February 17, the third Monday of February, is "Presidents Day" (no apostrophe) in America. We used to have seperate holidays for Washington's & Lincoln's birthday, but we combined them into an all-purpose Presidents Day. It's hardly a "National" holiday, since it's mostly observed only by government & financial institutions, but it is a legal holiday nevertheless.
  19. Subliminal? No. Subversive? No comment.
  20. Mssrs. Bush & Kerry: YOU ARE NOT WORTHY!!!
  21. Yeah, that's a good'un that seems to never stay in print for too long a stretch. Don't know why. Carpe diem!
  22. Happy President's Day!
  23. LESTER LEAPS IN!!!
