Oh god, this sounds like Gunslinger Stitt!!! That rhythm (Chicago? Jazz Showcase?) is pushing him and he pushes right back, and then some more. I hope you got this record, because I just looked and it's already gone. It's on my list now!

What I DID like about it was how clear you could hear the rest of the track I heard some background stuff I hadn't heard before. I can only imagine being in the studio for the tracks and then the mix...so dense and layered yet so coordinated, It all fits together in perfect proportions.

The "Guess I'm Dumb" AI vocal is the real failure. Those interval skips are ALL about air, and with no air in the voice, is just doesn't sound good. And that is a gorgeous song/record. The novelty value of the AI vocal is high, but it is value removed, not added. The technology is still primitive, but it will likely get there someday. After all, humans were once themselves struggling to get out of the primordial ooze, and look at us now - we are the very definition of humanity!

No you don't. You get the digital equivalent of a dime store label cover version of it, Outliers aside, most dime store label records were not at all good.

AI for voices is still pretty primitive.

I did find the album about the art in a cutout bin back in the day and enjoyed it quite well. I'd also like to get that Windmill Tilter album with wheeler. On the whole though, not a lot of appeal for me, either Dankworth or Laine. But that's ok, more for those who do like it.
