  3. Ok, what who is this "Hamilton Book"...are they the new Daedalus, a book/music company that specializes in a healthy stock of "remainders" and "overstocks" and "cutouts" and such? I used to love to shop Daedalus when they carried a lot of "real" labels, befire they shifted to all the EuroPDMusiPorn. Tell me that "HamiltonBook" might be worth my time, please?
  4. There are vultures everywhere who try to get somebody back using once they've gone clean. Dealers, fellow users, sick people everywhere who cannot live without capturing them a slave. I do not think that Prestige literally paid people in dope.

  6. hey, i like them Soul Flutes!
  7. See, that's WAY to logical. It don't work that way. People not be looking past the next high, by any means necessary, ASAP. And cash? You can get cash, somehow, almost always. And if you can't, hey, excuses are the only thing easier to get than dope. I mean, a professional junkie will plan it out and handle their business, but still...THE PANIC IS ON. Who was that SF guy who was notorious for getting people strung out and paying them in dope? Virgil Gonzalves? Every town's got one. At least one. Slavers, all of them. As far as Getz...I would not rule out that he was any worse than anybody else, just better at it than most.
  8. are you like me, do you cuss at the record when it's so damn bad that you can't even let it finish playing? That pisses me off like few other things, put a record on, can't even give one fair shake to get done with itself.

  10. People will try to pay you in drugs because it's cheaper for them than cash + they figure that if you're gonna go for the okey-doke, hey, why not. They save money, you get high, everybody's happy. Besides, if you're an addict and not just a Get High Boy, hey, there you go, they can get you to play the next gig for that, and the next, and the next...all the gigs, until you fuck up once too often or once too badly. And then they can just find another chump. This shit ain't pretty, this getting paid business. Just play the records.

  12. That's about the length of an hour-long TV show minus the commercials and stuff. I'm increasingly liking the LP-length programs of LPs on CDs. Relevant additional length is always welcome, but superfluous padding is a drag.
  13. "hopscotch" is the only one that really clicks for me as well. although, it's not a bad record overall. And at the time, it was like, ok, Charlie Rouse, not with Monk now, what's he got for us? Oh, Strata-East! Interesting... Not a "great record", but it's got it's own relevancy. But an inflated price...yeah, I got mine in a used bin for a couple of bucks and feel like it was priced about right. And then there's Cinnamon Flower on Casablanca...still not sure what that one was supposed to be...
  14. I hear voices...and they're real.
  15. All I really "know" about Reddit is the multiple political controversies, which sent me running even before beginning. Had no idea that there was also valid music groups as well.
  16. Discogs is showing that CDs & LPs are pretty affordable.

  18. So Reddit is now where all the insightful and informative jazz interactions are happening these days? Will this be true for all musics as well? I can go to Reddit and find out what's happening now and not feel pwned by so doing?

  20. And if Haig didn't know, he would ask Rainey, as a training exercise? Not sure I'm following the plan here. If neither knew, did they just walk down the middle of the street? That sounds dangerous, even then!
