  1. This and the IASW box are in so many ways my favorites of the series as far as how much extra light they shine within their scope.
  2. Given the nature of any virus, and given the demonstrated behavior of this one, that's a responsible/necessary assumption imo, for no other reasons than common sense about statistical probability. Let it be proven otherwise. Until then, so with what you know relative to what you don't know, and be fully informed about which is which. Paging The Next Dr. Salk, STAT!!!! Until then, the "war" metaphor has been used a fair amount around our battle with this virus, and if that really is what this is going to be, we should look at how America has maintained and sustained true wartime economies, and then how they created successful post-war economies. There's been a model for this...and here it gets "political", so that's as far as I go (and it's all kinds of a slippery slope anyway). Just saying, though, America HAS done this before.
  3. I listened to the video sampler. Sounded like him on Rhodes in a spot or two. The first one does!
  4. Too bad they were never able to get Prez on an Arthur Prysock record.
  5. Is it certain that he does not play on it at all? Kinda sounds like him soloing in spots...
  6. Do hey still use this training film in dentistry colleges?

  8. Jeez, it took a global nightmare to get you back on here?

    Joe Henderson

I don't really think of Joe in those terms, he was always both/and, but if I were to pick one album (as opposed to solo), this one here might not be my final answer, but it is my first one: aka It seems funny/odd to me think of Joe in those terms, though...perhaps even counter-intuitive ..would it be ok to say "unnatural"? That's just not how I've ever heard Joe... Extended as fuck sometimes, yeah, but never "out" in any way, not even with the overtones and stuff. As with Pharoah and Ayler, it was all at the service of a very developed technical expertise. Spontaneous impulses, perhaps, but known outcomes once those impulses got into the pipeline of playing. I know that's why some people have had reservations about him, they maybe see it as a lack of boldness or character or something, and I get that intellectually (to the degree that I do get it), but my god he just did whatever he wanted to do - and what he wanted to do, he could pretty much damn near always do it, and it always fell into place, never "out" really, just there, in the place where it was.
  10. RIP and... http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?/profile/455-clinthopson/content/
  11. Probably not getting this one at all, but that sounds right. A little care in selection and editing when/if needed, you could get a decent enough record. Sounds like that's what they did. Concur completely. In retrospect, yeah, stronger albums were to come, but that's in retrospect. In real time, you got a hot band with a hot name and not even a remotely predictable outcome as far as lifestyle repercussions go and you got some decent performances ready to go. Why would you NOT put it out?
  12. I'm kinda starting to want a haircut...will Wahl it if necessary, but....
  13. Gotta be tough. What are the mandates for a practice such as yours right now? Our dentist is currently only accepting "emergency" work, which means that my wife's temporary crowns are going to have to stay temporary until further notice. Not ideal, but if that's the worse that happens to us, hey....
  14. Still seems healthy, hoping he really is - and stays that way. Happy birthday!
  15. Oh, I need to be consistent about this whole virtual montage of people coming together to sing.... If you have to do that type of thing, get a better song. Please. Prove Voltaire wrong.
  16. Movies. But TV shows are available on the internet: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Boston+Blackie+v+show+roku&qpvt=Boston+Blackie+v+show+roku&FORM=VDRE
  17. Similarly, I wonder how many people realize that what you hear on a 45 on a jukebox or on an AM radio is usually not going to sound the same on an LP at home.
  18. Not just SNL, but also Night Music...
  19. No problem getting it here either. this is all from 2018, so...not exactly "breaking news"... https://www.foodrepublic.com/2018/01/04/rotten-netflix/ https://www.axios.com/trump-trade-war-china-garlic-farming-tariffs-36b00ce2-9143-4c55-860a-a90d78a65e9e.html https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/01/12/gilroy-garlic-giant-disputes-netflix-series-calling-business-rotten/ Oh, look, 2011! https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2011/3/11/955316/-
