  1. Used to bore me, originally. Then it irritated me for a few decades. Now, it's engaging enough to play in the car for a few days. Progress of something, but of what, I don't know. I do know that the slower stuff works for me the best.
  2. Bouton was with the Astros when Ball Four was released...he was maddeningly inconsistent with his pitching then, and that, coupled with the dislike for him among most fans for having wrote the book, made for some really intense booing episodes in the Dome. Back then, I unconditionally loved the book and its (necessary) irreverence. With the benefit of hindsight, I still feel the book was necessary, but do have some empathy for the sense of betrayal that some players felt. Ultimately, the book's value could probably have been maintained with naming all the names that were named in regard to all the activities that were portrayed. Of course, it's all history now, but it was still pretty much real-time then.

    Kenny Burrell

Somebody who's become a germophobe, agoraphobe, hoarder, and just plain batshit crazy, that's what it looks like. And an elderly spouse who no doubt loves her but is ill-equipped to handle the real-world consequences of all that, especially now that there's, like, more than a quarter-million dollars on the table. The authorities will be called in before this is all over, my money's on that, and then god knows what happens, elderly abuse, criminal insanity, just insanity period, god only knows what. I don't think any of us can attiribute "motive", but the reality appears to be pretty stark at this point.

Could be that she's batshit crazy and he''s in over his head with all that.
  5. I think Jo Jones' ravings are epic in nature. Whether they or him are in the least bit "sane" is relevant in a court of law, a patent review, or maybe a science journal, but apart from that, the applicable relevant of that criteria eludes me, as does whether or not one might find Jo Jones to be unpleasant. My fundamental faith in the driving principles of all universes known and unknown would be destroyed if that was NOT true.
  6. So, who are the people he loves?
  7. "Yeah, sure..." (read the book)
  8. They cut out the part where Topo Gigio sang "Gloomy Sunday". Hopefully the footage still exists.
  9. I don't think it's negative to suggest that Carlos Santana should remake the Elvis movies. In fact, I think it's a very constructive suggestion, from every conceivable angle.
  10. Al Cohn be actin' a fool on this thing, talk about a zone...
  11. No, you avoid it every day, and will continue to do so until that day you don't. And then, you won't, ever again.
  12. Dave Moore fits, here's the vest! dave Mopor
  13. You call that a fight? That's drunk chicks in a stadium throwing their arms around at nothing in particular. Then again, it is a baseball game, that's a pretty typical baseball fight, or used to be.
  14. There are no bad Johnny Guitar Watson records, period.
  15. Well, here she's an old-ish widowed librarian in a small town who gets Red-Baited out of her gig and then quietly suffers the resultant indignity. And then this kid who used to love her burns down the town library because all those books she encouraged him to read drove him nuts, that and his asshole dad who is adamant that books are the tools of Commies. Not exactly a typical Bette Davis role and/or film, but not a particularly good one either. Not sure if there's a correlation there or not.
  16. Same studio/session? Mingus?
