  1. Hey Mahlerbro Man 😊 Do you know this record? https://www.allmusic.com/album/mahler-lieder-early-recordings-1915-1949-mw0001855892 I love it. It's got that real-time thing going on in a big way, both in performance and recording quality. Plus, it contains what I think is Jascha Horenstein's first recording. A lot of historical significance, but more than just that.

  3. Superior music
  4. When Jaap Van Zweden was here, the DSO programmed a LOT of Mahler (and Bruckner too). We had season tickets then,so it was truly a feast!
  5. You're around Atlanta, right? Does you local orchestra program a lot of Mahler. Recommended live!6
  6. The Swinging Swimming Family - Goin' Jumpin' In The Lake!!!
  7. A particularly meaty collection.
  8. The usual suspect, probably,?
  9. Individual performances are fine. The film as a whole is...I found it on a PD streaming service and there's a reason. It's got a truly bizarre backstory and as a result is full of some nasty racist/jingoistic snappiness. But hey, that's entertainment. It's not a bad film otherwise, but not as taut as Falcon. Do your homework before actually viewing it (including the original posters). And realize that is neither the first nor last use of mass entertainment as unapologetic propaganda.
  10. Sounds like Holman, whose writing almost always held up up to a heavier touch. But I could be wrong.
  11. That chart has an underlying aggressiveness that has me wasting to hear it played by a Buddy Rich band. I think it could hold up to the force quite nicely.
  12. Didn't Maynard have The Birdland Dream Band at one point?πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŽ„πŸŽ„
  13. Ah. I thought so! But I did not recognize the cover...
  14. On what label was this originally issued?
  15. Felix Mantilla could play some ball. RIP.
  16. I meant crazy in the way of far out, good, wiggy, like Gonesville!!! In other words, nifty.
  17. Lurky McFlimmington - Lubricated!!!
  18. The physical "bargain basement" had a bunch of "well played" records mostly under $2.00. like at Josey, basically a lot of crap, but you might find something quirky enough or something just for a cover.
