  1. I haven't had a turntable for many years. Would get the new release in other media if available.
  2. Thanks! Didn't know of that one either. More aesthetically pleasing, pity the clip isn't in better sound.
  3. For obscure reasons I wanted to find a video (with lyrics) of a song about The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Found this, which I hadn't heard. Despite the AI images, weirdly interesting mixture of high and not-so-high culture. 🙂
  4. Two outstanding albums
  5. BGO reissue, release not yet on discogs. Another
  6. This might be interesting. Sep. 6 release on BBE, recorded 2019. Some piano/drum duets, some quartet selections. No clips yet on bandcamp.
  7. I found a copy of this earlier in 2024..."The Bastards" had a lot of Ted Daniel recordings in stock for a while. It's pretty cool, though different from the other recordings mentioned in the thread.
  8. Cheapo ZYX release of the Complete Group Masterpieces
  9. Listening to this on a whim and got a big surprise (jazz-rock funk rather than piano trio 🤣)
  10. There's a very positive review here that doesn't mention sound quality. The Dusty Groove blurb mentions that "...The tape of this performance that survived is a bit thin, [but the magic of the music really comes through as you let your ears open up]...", which is no surprise, based both on my experience with other Ujamaa recordings and on general principles re. surviving loft-era tapes.
  11. "Synthetic" Andrew Hill: all the single Blue Note CDs that were collected for the Mosaic.
  12. Thanks for posting that.
  13. This looks extremely cool but hyper-esoteric...ultra-limited edition box set of 10 cassettes?
  14. I was referring to "the Cadence guy" who apparently passed away early this year. It got posted on the forum, I'll still pass on typing the surname which is shown in this organissimo link.
  15. That's dated 11/17/2020. Wouldn't be surprised if it got posted to the forum shortly thereafter. Funny thing...I recently purchased a CD on discogs from an excellent vendor in upstate NY who I think (based on surname, which I'll omit here) must have a connection with the late Cadence guy...Got me thinking of Xxx but it took a while to recall his name.
  16. soulpope is spot on with these. Idea occurred to me independently while driving to work and I'd intended to post them. I located a Monk/Nichols via discogs.
  17. I ICP is earlier, more experimental, smaller ensembles but has many of the same elements. And an irony / sense of humor that is oddly lacking in much of the musical sphere. Definitely worth checking out, but 2-CD and bigger investment so look for samples if available.
  18. I have that Kikuchi release, it's a good one. I own and enjoy the Incipient ICP on C vs D, have periodically considered Tenterettet but never pulled the trigger.
  19. Damn. As I suspected, I do own it, and it's from my favorite album by the leader. But drew a blank on the ID. 🤣😶
  20. Nimbus West fest Don't be put off by the bizarre cover and title, it's very good.
  21. Couple things that had been on the want list: (preordered from DG) I'm sufficiently a Togashi fan to sometimes go for releases that stray into "new age" or the like. This one is very much in the ECM (of its era) style but I like it.
  22. Really enjoying #4, maybe a Nimbus West type of thing. Nate Morgan always comes to mind in the "Tyner-influenced pianists" sector, but it doesn't sound that much like him, and if so I don't believe I own the recording. Also #5, very much in my wheelhouse. Good chance I even own it but nothing comes to mind right now. Could even (longshot) be KD in a venturesome mode. Lots to like here, but I'm at work and can't spare much time now. Hope to over the next few days...will have to avoid peeking at the thread as I enjoy the guessing part.
