No longer selling a bunch of CDs from Germany
Niko replied to Kyo's topic in Offering and Looking For...
arguably the worst form of starvation... -
cool!

1,000 Jazz Covers
Niko replied to brownie's topic in Jazz In Print - Periodicals, Books, Newspapers, etc...
couldn't find it either, strange! -
indeed for me they could've left out the two photographs of Keepnews though, but that's just me
-
in this older post there is a Flora Purim title in addition to the other four...
-
bought Along Came John as my first Patton record today just for you (and me). It's really time to come back now, i'd say, being afraid of Nessa is part of the game!

from cduniverse: Issued on the current CD for the first time ever, the live recordings contained here present Harold Land in a splendid but unusual setting. The rhythm section of pianist Elmo Hope, bassist Scott LaFaro and drummer Lennie McBrowne wasn’t part of his usual group. In fact, the three musicians formed the rhythm section for Sonny Rollins’ quartet! http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/...Cellar+1958.htm

don't forget to dust it, it's used to that by the way, when i was 5 i destroyed the radio part of my father's fine Grundig radio, so (maybe because i still feel bad, partly because i couldn't afford an improvement) i always listen to music with my cd player plugged into the phono input of it is this a stupid thing to do? sounds ok to me, but i don't really have a comparison

Wasn't this a DEEP thought? wonder whether those who think so would go so far to say you really need only one Booker album (which contains at least one slow and one fast tune, otherwise two) or if you need more than one then just because of Jaki Byard or whoever; maybe this is naive but i wouldn't want to miss either version of Portrait of Vivian and that's not because of anyone other than Booker
-
too bad i missed this

there is this aotw list thread: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=2610

I could never tell anyone my most frequent thought of the day - but it has more to do with Randy than Booker!
-
I kind of feel the same about Booker. I *love* his work w/Mingus, but in other settings he was somewhat one-dimensional. Still enjoyable up to a point, though. Guy i have been listening to some of his stuff with Randy Weston more or less all day (African Cookbook and Monterey) and how great Ervin was in that context may have been my most frequent thought today - but that's just me
-
why not dash them down... i would say the most interesting items were those hatology releases which came iirc in december, the telarc stuff was quite a lot but didn't interest me all that much, this months besides those cheapo membram and zyx things (which i could get for about the same low price in many places if i wanted them) the impulse sale is the most interesting bit, but that's only for me, not for most other board members and "serious collectors" - i only have two John Coltrane Impulse CDs (and want more) but might be in the minority with this (it's by far not the complete impulse catalogue, no Blues and the abstract truth for instance, and no Illumination which i need badly)

thank you, Cologne doesn't have any left, couldn't check Düsseldorf (who always had the much better sellout section) in recent months... the strange thing about the stuff they had relisted was, that there were actually some items in between, like Johnny Griffin's Kerry Dancers and Grab this and some McCoy Tyner Cds (which i regret to have passed), which were sold out rather quickly last year... but as the relistings are gone i suppose it really was just a computer mistake or something
-
not exactly amazon, don't know whose mistake; can't even say i don't like the review, still don't know how it got there review for those who don't read german, here is the babelfish translation of this review of Sun Ra's Sound Sun Pleasure edit to add: i love "then the Stuendlein struck" [stuendlein is the diminutive of Stunde=hour]
-
seems you were right, all these cds disappeared from the listings again

thank you guys! will put on some EKE now, don't know why i don't already have that tradition! i am so glad i can spend at least some time every day at a place where Kenny Dorham, Johnny Griffin and all the others are considered as important as they are to me! (this is also agood place to apologize for all my uninformed posts of the last year - many more will follow)
-
i hope neither Membran nor Zyx are angry with me for not being able to tell them apart in my first post
-
169 pages by now... (still everything marked as sold out...) Looks like an error, doesn't it? With so many pages who can even browse through them properly? don't know, as you can see from my posts it appeared in at least two batches, the relevant stuff starts around page 50... (or search for the labels - as i said, it's all marked as sold out at the moment)
