so Christern over the years you have had music expierences not just with the Prez and Billie but the Dead and Band of Gypsys? why did you have to concern yourself at all with rock or pop music...were you genuinely interested or there "on assingment"? what was your favorite rock band, or one you liked more than most, etc

there is also a My brother the wind Vol I. on which sun ra tweaks the the moog to sound like some sort of altered hammond sound, like a hammond sound with added resonsance filtered to the point of almost self oscilation....of course he makes it swing

why is it the ONLY dub of World Pacific stuff that people actually circulate and know about, IS BY THE DOORS? out of ALL the cool session tapes I or you or me would want to hear, the only leaked item circulating from the world pacific label, is a DOORS demo- how dick bock even let those hippies in the studio in the first place, is BEYOND me. Other than the explanation, that Dick Bock was converted in LA from wcj to the crazy ass LA 60s scene. with all those crazy pop lps with ravi shankar and bud shank ploaying together? that certainly wasnt bud shank who set all that shit up i dont think.

you guys, the B-Side to this thing is un-freaking-belivable: its credited to Marascalco-harshmann. is this a pop hit for someone else? i looked those names up and the former did some work for imperial with fats domino and ricky nelson or some shit like that/ the closest thinbg it remind me of, is like, say....oh, Soulita- but on this buddy colette could put even Benny Maupin (who if you guys didnt know, i think is one of the best hard bop saxophone players to come on the scene post-Hank) to shame you guys sohuld seek this out: vic feldmans leadership w/ buddy colette, leroy malt vinnegar and ron jefferson, les mccann's drummer (pfsst

New Blue Note 45rpm sets
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to Claude's topic in The Vinyl Frontier
They marked the new Dolby A dub turks the "MASTER" and ash canned the original Van Gelder tapes (and a lot of Jan & Dean, etc. stuff). This engineer named "Bert" did them all and when we (Ron F. and other restoration engineers across the land) see the name BERT in the new tape box legend we cringe, knowing it's going to be a dub that is incorrectly marked MASTER. Thing is, it actually (in a sense) IS the master 'cause that is what we have to master stuff with now that the originals are burned i have to really pay more attn to this other forum- im appaled yet oddly attracted to hearing tales like this--- did they really just have complete idiots in charge back in the 80s? too much happy powder perhaps? what in the holy hell of all things holy? was he just trying to "create work" to make his job look prouctive? thats the only thing i can logically think of. did he TRULY think re doing the tapes was in the name of preservation? -

hella weird cliff/max 78 on ebay
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez replied to chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez's topic in Artists
the lock nessa monster brings up a good point: after 78s died in the states, the major labels still continued for a while to press them for their other markets, namely the third world markets where electricity was in short supply or non existent. The most famous example of this are the Beatles 78's that were pressed for India, Argentina, & the Phillipines -
