Hi Kevin, I had never heard of this band. Now that I see who's in it I agree it's the better of the two shows. Wayne Escoffrey rented an apartment from my wife back around the year 2000. He lived on Commonwealth Ave across the street from Star Market near BU's west campus. He was really nice to her and I'm sure she remembers him. He was pursuing a modeling career (+ jazz) at that time. The women in her office swooned over him. I'm going to put in a request to have Scullers list the band members. I should have known of this group and am grateful that you've brought this to my attention.

I found a clip of Emilio on youtube. He sounds really good...with a bit of Coltrane swag in his sound. I might just go to this show (thanks all). I was going to get the dinner package to be up close but because of Rooster's warning I'll be at the back of the club in one of the bar seats. Service has been terrible at the club since they moved from the awesome upstairs room to this new sterile conference room.

I don't go out on New Years Eve, mostly because I'm old and can't stay awake that late. As a consolation I go to a show between Christmas and New Years. At Scullers (Boston) he's playing one night that week. I haven't stayed current with his work, it must be 10 years since I last listened to him - and based on this thread that seems to be the norm around here. Has anyone listened to him recently? Would you recommend hearing him? I can't locate info on who he is touring with so that adds to my hesitation.

I can ask him but like all old folks, he's stubborn. He also has sight issues which are taking up a lot of his time, 5 shots in each eye every other week and was hospitalized for a blood clot behind one of the eyes two weeks ago. I'm sure he's Dr'd out. So it's safe to assume there isn't a headset made where he can make adjustments?

Dad has hearing aids and was at the VA several times getting them adjusted. He was told they're new technologies and told they should work as you're all suggesting. Still, he complains that he can't hear higher voices and if he turns up the sensitivity on the aid the lower frequencies overwhelm him. He's not tech savvy, can't use an iPhone or computer and never goes on the internet. Thanks for the replies, they're most appreciated.

I know this is an unusual request. My dad lost some of his hearing when he was in the services. It was caused by a gun shot on a firing range. He has difficulty hearing mid range and upper range frequencies but has no difficulty hearing low range frequencies. The hearing aids on the market do little to help because boosting the high frequencies also boosts the lower end. I'd like to get him a set of headphones that he can use to listen to TV. I want to find a pair that lowers the higher frequencies into a range that he can hear without boosting the bass. Does such a product exist?
