  6. I don't believe in reincarnation but for those who do, they seem to believe that I'll come back as an elephant.
  7. While walking up an escalator, your shoelace gets caught in the moving stairs, and you are dragged all the way to the top. You die from internal injuries.
  8. You're dumping those Lester Young in Washington discs already?! You've had them less than a year! (Just giving you a hard time. )
  9. Nice. I was just playing this one today. I gave it my first listen today and really enjoyed it. With a lineup of Morgan, Curtis Fuller, Jackie McLean, McCoy Tyner, Bob Cranshaw and Art Blakey, how can you lose? Some BMG deals in yesterday's mailbox: Andrew Hill - Judgement! (My first Andrew Hill) Duke Ellington - Duke Ellington Meets Coleman Hawkins (My first Coleman Hawkins and giving Ellington a chance in the small group setting. Two birds with one stone.) Hank Thompson & His Brazos Valley Boys - Vintage Collection (There's no country like the old country!)
  10. In today's mailbox: Ronnie Scott - Boppin With Scott (4-CD) Lee Morgan - Tom Cat Oliver Nelson - The Blues And The Abstract Truth
  11. Only when she's 10 feet tall.
  12. Yeah. That one is turning out to be elusive as a 'deal'. The owner of a CD store in Austria told me yesterday that Universal Europe deleted the Buddy Rich set some time ago and that it's been hard to find ever since, so I guess you'll have to get it from Mosaic if you really want this one. There was a seller on Half.com or Amazon (I don't remember which) that was selling still-sealed Rich sets for around $65.00 delivered about a year ago. I wasn't even in the market for it but I couldn't pass it up and grabbed one anyway. They went pretty quick. Still haven't seen a deal on the Gillespie Universal anywhere.
  13. I hate that shit too. Some of that pop-up program advertising is actually animated too, which is to say that you'll see some guy in the bottom third of the screen actually moving around while he gets in the way of your image. It's maddening. Yeah, I love to be in the middle of watching a murder scene or something, only to have Frank Caliendo and Bill Engvall's big fucking heads pop up and dance around to remind us of a new show next week. Afterwards, your like "what the fuck just happened?" "I'm here, watching and I and I still missed"! Amen to that!! I HATE them. It's gotten to the point that I feel violated whenever they all-too-frequently come on. Maybe someday they can come up with some kind of product that will block them.
  14. A wire cutter will take care of that issue.
  15. I'm already on the Parlan bandwagon and would also highly recommend picking this one up before it disappears. Back in the day I had 2 or 3 other Mosaics in my sights when I looked at the Parlan set out of curiosity and listened to some samples of the music from the set. After that, Parlan shot to the top of the list and became the priority for my next buy. It's a lot of great music and I didn't want to wait until it was running low and risk the chance that I might miss it. It's one of my favorite Mosaics.
  16. Sal Nistico first caught my attention on Chuck and Gap Mangione's Jazz Brothers CDs. ("Jazz Brothers", "Hey Baby!" and "Spring Is Here"-all enjoyable discs and proof that Chuck Mangione could play actual jazz) Those CDs lead me to pick up the 2-fer mentioned in the original post, "Heavyweights/Comin' On Up!". I like him quite a bit and will have to try and find some more of his stuff at a reasonable price.
  17. They must have sold out in the last 10 minutes. It was "out of stock" online and is not sold in their stores.

  20. BTW, the Beatles first bassist - Stu Sutcliff? (sp?)
  21. Hope this doesn't push anyone over the edge but it's Starland Vocal Band. Maybe I should be upset for knowing that.
  22. Also: "Madam in Eden, I'm Adam."
  23. "Able was I ere I saw Elba." -a Napoleon related palindrome
