  1. No text--duplicate post.
  2. I caught the first two episodes and I'm still on the fence with this one. I don't know what to think but it makes me want to watch again. I'm watching it with my daughter, something happens and we look at each other and go, "What the......!?!" What's up with that Japanese guy mind-transporting himself to New York? Did that really happen? If so then we have a glimpse of what's coming in the next 5 weeks? What's the deal with that cheeleader's father? Is he government? He's being painted as the bad guy to the featured characters. And what's up with that murder scene where the cop finds that little girl? That was messed up! And what's going on with the sawed off skulls and missing brains of those two characters (one of them frozen!)? And the single mother--does this"independant image" she keeps seeing take over her body and actions without her knowing it? In one scene we see her then in the next moment, she's wearing something different and several hours have passed and she doesn't seem to know what happened. I need to keep watching just to try and figure out what the heck is going on.
  3. Not nearly as much as when someone says "I could care less" when they actually mean "I couldn't care less." If you can care less then it means you do care!! Two more skin crawlers: Vegas baby! and What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
  4. Did I mention I enjoyed the series "Lost" on DVD? I guess I already did. While I'm here, why not post another picture of Evangeline Lily?
  5. One listen to the samples and I had to have it!
  6. I liked ELO as well and still do. But the Beatles aren't ELO and ELO aren't the Beatles. In this case, I think it was more important to produce a Beatles sound than to interject his own sound into a Beatles product. Even if you had no idea that Jeff Lynne was involved and were familiar with ELO's sound it's easy to hear that ELO presence in both songs.
  7. I liked "Real Love" a lot better than "Free as a Bird!" I always thought that Jeff Lynn's hand in those recordings was a bit too heavy. They sounded too ELO-ish. Then again, it's hard to imagine what any producer could have done to flesh out those bones.
  8. Scrubs has an excellent balance to it. It's genuinely, laugh out loud funny and the frequent little fantasy schticks in JD's mind are great. The show expertly balances this with its treatment of real issues in life and relationships and can be very poignant at times. It's a wonderful show.
  9. Evangeline Lily indeed! Lost is one of those shows where you can't or shouldn't miss a single episode. That was the beauty of having seen it on DVD for the first time because you could watch it without fear of missing it, on your own scheduled time. Plus you didn't have to wait a week to see what happened. I was the one who was initially curious as to what the whole buzz surrounding the show was about and my whole family ended up being hooked. It took us about a week to get through the entire first season.
  10. I'm getting towards the end of season 1 of Kung Fu that was lent to me by a friend. It's everything I remembered it to be, a pretty cool show. I still really dig it. I'm also about half way through the 1st season of Scrubs, one of my favorite shows. Season 2 is on deck but I've only been able to squeeze a show in every 1 or 2 weeks lately. I'm waiting on the library to get the 2nd season of LOST in circulation. I'm one of those who've never watched it on TV and now I'm trying to catch up. I'm taping but not watching season 3 for when I finish the season 2 DVDs. I'm about 26th on the waiting list but they're going to have about 6 copies circulating so that puts me at about 4th or 5th in line overall. That still probably puts me on at least a 2 month wait. Once I'm done with Kung Fu, I'll probably pick up on watching the original Twilight Zone again during my lunch breaks. I've watched season 2 and am about 3 discs into season 1. I've had season 3 for over a year and it's still in shrink-wrap. I had to take advantage of a good deal when the opportunity presented itself.
  11. Are people here really finding good deals at Border's even with the 30% off coupon? I wanted to take advantage but since the 30% is only off their retail price, I still found that everything I wanted could be had for (often significantly) less from various places on the internet even after shipping costs were added.
  12. Another thought- if you wanted to hear a bunch of songs that aren't played out, "The Beatles Live At The BBC" would be a treasure trove. This stuff is primarily from 1963-1964 so I'd imagine a lot of this is what you would have heard when the Beatles toured and played endless hours in Hamburg or when they played at the Cavern Club before they became the "Fab Four". Plus, it's a lot of non-Beatles songs being performed.
  13. These are on the heavier-played side but I love them especially for Paul's bass parts. "Paperback Writer" and "Something". Just try it. Pull those two songs out of your collections, crank it up and concentrate on Paul's bass playing. Great songs, great bass lines.
  14. How about a couple of rockers like "One after 909" from Let It Be or "Bad Boy" from Past Masters?
  15. There's really not enough volume of traffic to warrant a whole new sub-category and even if there were, there'd still be those who saw it as a great opportunity to get even more exposure by posting auctions in both categories anyway. It's not that big of deal to me and just seems to me to be a minor inconvenience to those whom it does matter. I agree though that the distinction should be noted in the title of the post.
  16. PM and email sent, thanks!
  17. And Eric the Red was a tenor?
  18. What's the connection between Lawrence Welk and Blue Oyster Cult? Am I the only one who sometimes does not get the transitions some people make at all? If the connection is obscure or a non-obvious twist, posters should explain the connection.
  19. Big Bopper Virginia Faulkner Thornton (Billy Bob's Mama) Billy Bob Thornton

  21. Emmett Kelly Wynton Kelly Wynton Marsalis
  22. Ross Geller (from "Friends" for anyone wondering) Uri Geller Kreskin
