I've never had a problem either.

88.9% For a non-musician, I'll take it! A lot of the differences were pretty subtle.

Ever felt like this guy during a gig?

Man, that's really harsh. What's up with the anger and hardened heart that you felt so compelled to share such a hateful thing? -

Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?
mikelz777 replied to Soulstation1's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
As you make your way through this set, each disc is better than the last. The dominant organ on the 1st disc takes a bit of getting used to. I enjoyed it much more the 2nd time around and will probably like it even more with a few more listens. Many people who talk about this set heap a lot of praise on "Katanga" which comprises the 2nd half of the 3rd disc and deservedly so. It's excellent! -
It's called "bait and switch" and it is illegal in virtually every state. Regrettably, it is showing up on even the most legitimate online sites. The next Elliot Spitzer is going to have a field day with these guys one of these days! Whatever Caiman may be guilty of, its nothing that can be described as 'bait and switch". They were totally guilty of bait and switch pricing with me. I bought a DVD box set at an excellent price and they confirmed the sale. A couple of days later, they cancelled the sale and (amazingly) refunded my money stating, "We are unable to fulfill your order." They were selling the exact same item on both Amazon and Half.com at a much higher price. I went to their storefront via Half.com and was able to purchase up to six of the box sets if I desired. Through multiple emails I provided proof that they actually were able to fulfill my order and I asked them to honor their commitment. They ignored my proof, stone-walled me and then invited me to re-place the order for the same item at the higher/inflated cost!!!! They couldn't care less about me or the crappy thing they did to me which shows an incredible lack of honesty and integrity. Lest I give the impression that I'm putting myself on a pedestal and looking down on them, I have to confess that I am such a bargain whore that I ended up ordering several items from them after brooding and feeling sorry for myself for several months.

Your most common source for music purchases?
mikelz777 replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Well shoot me but I was trying to distinguish between the mighty Amazon 800 lb gorilla and the small to mid-size businesses that use their service to sell to consumers. I took the difference to mean Amazons "retail" price vs. what is very often obtained cheaper new or used via Marketplace or private sellers. I'm a #3 but often buy via half.com as well. They would be my top 2. -
John Patton Mosaic Select: What's in, What's Out?
mikelz777 replied to Matthew's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I got the Patton Select and had a chance to listen to it this weekend. It's the first Patton in my collection and I've got to say it's a real winner! He and Grant Green are a natural pair and they sound great together. I think my favorite of the Patton releases included in the set is "That Certain Feeling" with Jimmy Ponder. That was a solid outing with a great groove that made me want to re-listen as soon as it was over. Nothing on the set was disappointing at all and like a well assembled box set should, it makes me want to check out even more John Patton. At times, Harold Alexander's playing on the 3rd disc moved a little further "out" than I usually like but it's closer to "toeing the line" than pushing too far out. I'm pretty sure it will grow on me with a few listens. Two thumbs up. -

Already gone unfortunately. Yes, they were there when I looked. This is a wonderful set, one that I preordered as soon as I could. Saddened me to see them at this site, I bet they were stolen from Mosaic one way or another. I wasn't asking any questions. After reading your post I went there instantly to buy them and was disappointed to see them gone already. I would have loved to have that set to listen to, CD case and artwork or not.

John Patton Mosaic Select: What's in, What's Out?
mikelz777 replied to Matthew's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I found a bargain so I finally picked up Big John's Mosaic Select as well and await its arrival. This will be the first Patton in my collection and from the sound of it, it's a pretty good place to start. I've been listening to a little Jimmy Smith to whet my B-3 appetite. -
I've always liked Stan. I'm with Cali, "That's Where It's At" is one of my favorites. There's also a lot to like about his work with Horace Parlan.

Val Lewton Horror Collection
mikelz777 replied to mikelz777's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
It sounds like a set I'm really going to enjoy. Some of the selling points for me was the black and white noir quality of these films. Also the subtlety where it is more frightening and suspenseful to suggest something rather than show it outright. The Saturday afternoon matinee, B-film quality also has a certain air of charm and nostalgia for me. -
The Val Lewton Horror Collection This set contains the following features: -Bedlam -The Body Snatcher -Cat People -The Curse of the Cat People -I Walked with a Zombie -Isle of the Dead -The Leopard Man -The Seventh Victim -The Ghost Ship Does anyone out there own this set? What are your thoughts and impressions? I just ordered this set today and I'm hoping it comes in before Halloween.

The only "new" emotions are those that already exist but are experienced by an individual for the first time or better understood so that the pre-existing emotion is felt to a greater or richer degree as to appear like or feel like a new emotion. What Tom S. said.

Wow, that really is a good deal! I wonder if I could find the first two seasons of The Bob Newhart Show for that. Easily. You can get both from deepdiscountdvd.com for $44.50. With your savings, you can also buy season three and still have change in your pocket. If you are interested, I have a "like new" copy of season 1 I can sell you for $17.50 delivered. I'm looking to scrape up some new CD money.

That's one of the beauties of the original series, the cheese factor only became better over time. Watching it is kind of like eating comfort food for me, it reminds me of weekend reruns I watched as a child. And who else on the planet would have made a better Kirk than William Shatner who somehow mastered that fine alchemy which perfectly balanced the ham, cheese and quality in acting? I was watching an episode from the first season where Kirk was startled by someone or something entering the room when he sprung into action by executing this horribly slow and awkward somersault roll ending in some kind of defense pose which had me laughing out loud. It's only because it was done with such seriousness, deliberate intent and with such purpose that it qualifies as such top-quality, grade-A cheese perfectly blended with the right amount of humor whether it was intended or not.

I've seen these for as low as $50.00. Personally, I think you can completely skip season three unless you're a completist. I got them both new for $71.00. Season 3 is not without its weaknesses, but certainly not bad enough to dismiss the entire season. Good or bad, the original Star Trek had its own special brand of cheesy appeal. "Spectre of the Gun" was in season 3 and was one of my all time favorites. "The Tholian Web" was also another good one. I even liked the ridiculous "The Way to Eden" with all the hippies hijacking the ship. It cracked me up and it's such a representative product and reflection of the times.

These were coming down in price so I had to pick them up to compliment the first season. These used to be $99.00 a pop and that was finding them at a good price! I got season 1 at a price significantly cheaper than $99.00, but still paid about the same as I just paid for seasons 2&3 combined! Some of the other stuff in my collection: -The Definitive Twilight Zone 1-3 -I Love Lucy 1 and 4 -Rocky and Bullwinkle 1-2 -The Office 1-2 (BBC) -Quantum Leap 1 -Mary Tyler Moore Show 1 -Bob Newhart Show (w/Susanne Pleshett) 1 -Northern Exposure 1 and 3 -Jonny Quest--->I used to really dig this show as a kid and tried to get my kids interested in it but they were pretty indifferent. Maybe it's because they are girls. I should probably sell it for CD money.

Wow, what's up with all that hate and anger? A man who has no idea the extent of or lack of your music knowledge offers some useful advice and your reaction is to mock his looks, feel murder in your heart and the urge to commit violence? Then another poster here rewards this man for offering some helpful advice by calling him an idiot? What is going on in your lives to feel so much hatred and anger with no provocation? Am I missing something?

Isn't it being released in November?
