Goooooooooooooooooooooooooool
Van Basten II replied to Van Basten II's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
They are a few interesting games in Serie A also Milan-Roma and Inter-Palermo and of course Liverpool-Arsenal. -
Saw the movie a few weeks ago, it's as oblique as Lynch's work. I don't think that whoever was responsible for this film, considering the name of the director you might think it might be Lynch himself, had any intention about revealing anything about Lynch.

Sports: 2007 NFL Weekly Pool
Van Basten II replied to Soulstation1's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
The way i see it, i'm better when i make my picks in advance, thinking of mailing all my picks for the rest of the season in one post. -
The use of Iggy Pop's Lust for life was quite memorable. However i think to qualify you should present an original set of songs, which was not the case for this movie.

Mosaic sale, ending October 14
Van Basten II replied to J.A.W.'s topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
By the way, is this normal that i have not received any shipping notification, despite receiving a confirmation order two weeks ago ? -
Jimmy Smith playing with his chin
Van Basten II replied to blind-blake's topic in Artists & Recordings
If the player is more interested in doing gimmicks than actually creating artistic content, yes. But some showmanship to keep everyone entertained is well appreciated and makes fore a more memorable evening. Don't think we currently have much of a problem of having too many players guilty of offering too much showmanship ? -
Jimmy Smith playing with his chin
Van Basten II replied to blind-blake's topic in Artists & Recordings
Considering, i saw him taking out his dentures out of his mouth and playing the theme of Jaws while waving them. I would say that showmanship might be an option. -

http://www.chindogu.com/ The Ten Tenents of Chindogu Every Chindogu is an almost useless object, but not every almost useless object is a Chindogu. In order to transcend the realms of the merely almost useless, and join the ranks of the really almost useless, certain vital criteria must be met. It is these criteria, a set of ten vital tenets, that define the gentle art and philosophy of Chindogu. Here they are: 1. A Chindogu cannot be for real use It is fundamental to the spirit of Chindogu that inventions claiming Chindogu status must be, from a practical point of view, (almost) completely useless. If you invent something which turns out to be so handy that you use it all the time, then you have failed to make a Chindogu. Try the Patent Office. 2. A Chindogu must exist You're not allowed to use a Chindogu, but it must be made. You have to be able to hold it in your hand and think 'I can actually imagine someone using this. Almost.' In order to be useless, it must first be. 3. Inherent in every Chindogu is the spirit of anarchy Chindogu are man-made objects that have broken free from the chains of usefulness. They represent freedom of thought and action: the freedom to challenge the suffocating historical dominance of conservative utility; the freedom to be (almost) useless. 4. Chindogu are tools for everyday life Chindogu are a form of nonverbal communication understandable to everyone, everywhere. Specialised or technical inventions, like a threehandled sprocket loosener for drainpipes centred between two under-the-sink cabinet doors (the uselessness of which will only be appreciated by plumbers), do not count. 5. Chindogu are not for sale Chindogu are not tradable commodities. If you accept money for one you surrender your purity. They must not even be sold as a joke. 6. Humour must not be the sole reason for creating a Chindogu The creation of Chindogu is fundamentally a problem-solving activity. Humour is simply the by-product of finding an elaborate or unconventional solution to a problem that may not have been that pressing to begin with. 7. Chindogu is not propaganda Chindogu are innocent. They are made to be used, even though they cannot be used. They should not be created as a perverse or ironic comment on the sorry state of mankind. 8. Chindogu are never taboo The International Chindogu Society has established certain standards of social decency. Cheap sexual innuendo, humour of a vulgar nature, and sick or cruel jokes that debase the sanctity of living things are not allowed. 9. Chindogu cannot be patented Chindogu are offerings to the rest of the world - they are not therefore ideas to be copyrighted, patented, collected and owned. As they say in Spain, mi Chindogu es tu Chindogu. 10. Chindogu are without prejudice Chindogu must never favour one race or religion over another. Young and old, male and female, rich and poor - all should have a free and equal chance to enjoy each and every Chindogu.

Second Most Important Genre of Music?
Van Basten II replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Can't seem to find an answer that fits completely my feelings. On one hand, i think it is important to distinguish styles of music, so i can't say that i don't recognize musical genre boundaries. However i'm first and foremost a music lover, if a tune, the orchestration, the lyrics, the arrangment, the emotion, the technique pleases me or whatever that suits my fancy at the moment of listening makes me react positively, i will appreciate it, period. So, to say that i like a style of music that pleases me more than anyone else is impossible for me to say. There is only one style of music that pleases me, it's the kind that makes my brain send positives waves throughout my body and God knows what kind of music it will take him next to get excited. -
Have we finally run out of jazz topics to talk about?
Van Basten II replied to Big Al's topic in Miscellaneous Music
As someone who has been part of many boards over the years. It's a thing that actually occurs often where a certain number of people would be on a board related about a specific subject but would mostly post in the miscellaneous sections. I guess they prefer the idea of talking about different subjects with people that they share a common passion than talk about the subject that unites them. Maybe we should do a thread about that ? Yeah, i know, should belong the stupid question thread. -

Have we finally run out of jazz topics to talk about?
Van Basten II replied to Big Al's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Gonna contribute by putting on top a thread that does not talk about jazz but talks about the fact that we're not talking about jazz. -
Don't wanna brag, but i bought it for 90 $ in a used cd store a few months ago.

Inspector Clouseau Dr Srangelove Harry (Loved that movie)

Her first album didn't do much for me, thought her second effort was a lot more entertaining. Fear that she will be a hit and miss kind of girl for my tastes.

Apperently, problems with watching La Liga action are back, i know that the Barça game scheduled saturday that was supposed to be broadcasted by Gol TV never got shown outside of Spain. -
It was among the first jazz boxsets i bought, it's pretty much covered with rust. Conseidering how complicated it is to get the CDs out of that thing, i listened to the music once and i don't remember if i ever listen to it afterwards.
