  1. Thanks to Gallo's "Brown Bunny" I found out about blow jobs and Curson's album "Tears for Dolphy". Thank you for the music, Vincent Gallo!
  2. I watched the Shadows & Light video today. 50% of that line-up are already dead.

  4. The "rip dvd vobs to hard-disk and convert to avi" is easier and doesn't take as much time as capturing analog video (I use a capture card for VHS-sources).
  5. No, I don't youtube. Max file size for DVD Video = 1GB -> it's possible that the video you'd like to share is spread over more than one VOB file ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vob ). Then there's youtube's 10-minute length limit, etc. My advice: rip your DVD's content (assuming you're talking about Video-DVD) to hard-disk (programs: dvddecrypter, dvdshrink, ...), convert those VOBs to AVI (program: dvd2avi), edit the AVI(s) (set start/end, resize, append AVI, etc.; program: virtualdub) and save. Now convert to target format (mpeg4, flv?) with this converter: http://www.effectmatrix.com/total-video-converter/index.htm. According to youtube 320x240 would be best: Enjoy. P.S.: Most or all programs mentioned in this post are freeware. I assume you're using MS Windows.
  6. Thank you very much. Did you search http://www.archive.org/ to find this post? I didn't realize this thread was exclusively about U.S. stamps. Just being facetious. The link that I sent you to is the very same thread that we are now posting in. (see post #4 above). I know that it's in the same thread. Got to use smiley faces next time.

  8. Gerald Wilson is not dead. You have to be dead to be on a stamp.
  9. USB 2.0 transfer rates: 1,5 Mbit/s (Low Speed) 12 Mbit/s (Full Speed) 480 Mbit/s (High Speed) Let's take the protocol overhead into account and two hours/42 GB with USB 2.0 High Speed seems like a normal rate.
  10. This is my favorite Teen Town cover so far. Nice to hear musicians using Jaco's compositions to make something funny/new out of it instead of the mere chops oriented/finger acrobatic show offs (M. Miller, V. Wooten, etc. - "Hey, I can slap Teen Town-yawn")
  11. If this isn't a rhetorical question: Yes, he's Jimmy Garrison's son.
  12. What about Styx and the Contemporary Youth Orchestra?
  13. Ahhh, fellow smart ass couw.
  14. Thanks for the compliment. Hang up a shopping bag filled with sand above your notebook. That way, when your notebook starts burning, the bag melts and the sand extinguishes the fire. You better find another excuse for not wanting to transcode. Good idea. And on my way back I could stop by at Federer's place in Basel because I'm looking for a sparring partner anyway.
  15. Well, leave your computer turned on over night(s) and let it transcode.
  16. Transcode your files. http://www.freeware-base.de/freeware-zeige...ils-10963-.html for instance.
  17. I don't have an iPod or ubuPod so I don't know what I'm talking about.
  18. Durium, what's going on?
  19. Double bass n the tradition of Ludwig Streicher. Thank you, 1.75!
  20. One of these days I will start this topic ' How does your sons react to your hobby/obsession?' My ten year old daughter hates all of the jazz that I play-mainstream or any other style of jazz. It's "weird" and "embarassing". She has let me know that if any of it is playing in our parked car when her friends come close to the car, it will be the ultimate social disaster for her. My mother's car was the ultimate social disaster for me. Your situation isn't that bad.
