  1. You can get (or at least could get) the Faces box from BMG for around $25. Free shipping, too, when i got mine.
  2. Tom's already commented on this:
  3. Jesus wept. I really dig Rod as a R&R singer, but man is his voice not cut out for standards...
  4. most importantly: get rid of the porn!
  5. This has been a growing problem for the networks since the rise of Tivo and commercial-zapping VCRs. And it's hard to blame them for being upset and wanting to curtail it. The commercials pay for the (to us) free programming, and by watching "free" TV we enter into a tacit agreement to at least suffer through (if not actually watch) the paid advertisements. So one can, in a way, consider it "stealing" when one skips over the commercials. That said, i do it all the time...
  6. Good stuff but... still sealed?
  7. Speaking of "Camptown Races"... next week's theme: Stephen Foster songs!
  8. I loved Paris from day one... but unfortunately less each week. I actually enjoyed Rod on the show tonight... and it looked like he was having fun as well. He's a terrific rock singer and performer - or at least he was - but i gotta say those American Standards of his are awful. It figures then, of course, that my dad really digs them. I found most of the performances tonight surprisingly dull, with only Taylor standing out (and even then, only the end of his song).
  9. Well, Tony Bennett was busy and everyone else is already dead.
  10. That sounds deceptively filthy. I love it!
  11. Well I guess we can count Cruise out for Celebrity Chefs...
  12. I assume this is different from the Concord Blakeys or are those simply legit releases?
  13. Let's see if this works...
  14. Greg Itzin deserves an Emmy nod for his performance as Prez Logan. Brilliant work!
  15. It wasn't just the AMG reviewer who hated this one iirc.

    Chuck Mangione

Can't say I'm much of a Chuck Mangione fan these days, but I was born and raised in Rochester and back in the 70s he was like a musical god in the city. Saw him play at several concerts at my high school, and he (though indirectly) is probably as responsible as anyone in getting me interested in jazz. Yeah, most of his stuff's too commercial for my tastes now, but I'd say it's still a fair amount better than most "smooth jazz" you hear these days.
  17. I've always thought "tough titties" should be reserved for men or for women with implants.
  18. The funny thing is, most everyone seems to believe tha political correctness has "run amok" except when it involves them or someone they know. -_- So now Tiger has to worry about offending those in other countries due to harmless remarks he makes here? Should Brits stop calling cigarettes "fags?" When wil it stop? Dear god, please make it stop!
  19. This is too funny! My copy's a promo too. Was this ever actually released to the "public?"
  20. Lapsed Catholic here, but still regularly celebrate Easter with my family. My wife is Jewish - and slightly more Jewish than I'm Catholic - so we also default toward the Jewish holidays, which i can appreciate for being much more secular than Christianity. My girls both turn five on Easter Sunday this year, so it should be a pretty good shindig. They're still a bit confused about the religious-ness of it all and we certainly haven't forced anything on them yet - just try explaining to a pair of four-year olds how god saved the Jews in Egypt by causing a series of plagues and killing the children of anyone without lamb's blood on their door. I find it cute how Dinah sums up her "spiritual beliefs" (which she picked up mostly from other kids at school): she's quite insistent that "God is the sky."
  21. Don't think that's true. WMP always tries to get the info, though a lot of the things i play it can't find.
  22. I agree with Chuck. Farrell's a lousy drummer...
  23. Shit. The same day we sign our return papers (getting a nice refund this year ) we get a letter in the mail from the IRS. An audit of last year's taxes.
  24. "Organissimo: the Official Band of Pepsi Jazz!" Has a nice ring to it, no?
