  1. Well gee, this is heartening. I thought I was the only one who disliked their Columbia sides. Love the two ECM disks though.
  2. Not my favorite jazz pianist by any means, but Oscar Peterson was a giant and it's always sad when a giant leaves us; there aren't that many left. Just to piss off Clem and some others, I'm now gonna spin OP + 1 w/Clark Terry, one of my favorite OP albums. R.I.P. Mr. Peterson.
  3. First try switching the cables (right-to-left), then maybe any tiny cables on the cartridge.
  4. Heh. Just ordered another ten.
  5. I've been "collecting," on and off, the OJC Limited Editions, figuring that some of them are the least likely to be re-released in the future. I was putting a list together earlier and was shocked to realize that I have over 80 of them now. Most of them I've never seen in the stores. Take a look on Amazon and see the prices being asked for many of them by Marketplace sellers. I picked up a lot of them during the last Concord sale for 3 bucks a pop. They've wised up this time around and aren't giving them away again. Even so, I've noticed that quite a few of them have disappeared from the site just within the last day or so. I've also noticed that for some titles, Amazon Marketplace merchants like Newbury Comics seem to have fairly large quantities (30 or so) in stock. I wonder if some of the merchants have been buying out Concord's stock of the OP titles (seems like that happened during the last sale). Wow, you're right. Of the ten I ordered just a few days ago (and thankfully they've all shipped!) the following starred ones are now unavailable... OJCCD-1922-2 Change Of Pace *OJCCD-1902-2 Studio Jazz Party *OJCCD-1871-2 The Quota *OJCCD-1914-2 Metamorphosis *OJCCD-1839-2 The Chant *OJCCD-1796-2 Tiny In Swingville *OJCCD-1868-2 The Hap'nin's OJCCD-1849-2 Roamin' With Richardson *OJCCD-1806-2 Asia Minor *OJCCD-1869-2 Glidin' Along
  6. I'll be away for a few days too, so Happy Christmas to all!

  8. He knocked her up in Church??? Terrible! You just made the story twice as good!
  9. My favorite part is how young Ms. Spears met the boyfriend who knocked her up in church.
  10. Broke down and got these. I have most of these as emusic mp3s already, but they're favorites and most are fairly hard (and expensive) to find elsewhere. I'm sure I'll order again in a few weeks. 11. Just ordered from Amazon. If you have HDDVD or BluRay, you can get the 5-disc set for only $28!

    Amy Winehouse

At least in jail they might force her to eat something...
  13. For me, the only reason is the price. For less than $15, it make a great gift and/or a spare copy of the music for my office.
  14. You realize that's like comparing an mp3 to a CD right?
  15. Sorry, Johnny - my plans to attend fizzled at the last moment. But I will be spinning your CD in lieu of seeing you guys last night.
  16. Don't I know it. I was doing some film research at UCLA a while ago, helping out a friend on a book, and they treat you like you're stealing state secrets. I felt most uncomfortable.
  17. Hey Kevin - Are you familiar with jazz film archivist Mark Cantor? He's got a website, but it hasn't been updated in a while. http://www.jazz-on-film.com/ He'd be a good one to contact.
  18. Just saw this minutes ago on Yahoo. Very sad news. I've been on a 32 Jazz/Label M kick lately, so I've been reading a lot of Dorn's notes. Seemed like a genuinely quirky, sincere, and passionate producer and music fan.

Who cares what the record sounds like with that great cover art! You mean this groovy cover? The colors were more vivid on the original. Heh. My LP copy has a b&w cover.
  20. I love the Chico set!
  21. I hope to be there too!
  22. What indication that the sound is inferior?
  23. I think we should rename it "spoon" and start a new "Spoon is great!" ad campaign.
  24. no, we don't. oh ... and could you please turn off the virus scanner on your system ... it's not fully compatible with our remote access software ... we are getting error messages everytime we try to access your hard drive ... thanks for cooperating with us ! thanks for the welcome messages @catesta and @paul secor.
