  1. Coincidentally, I spun the mono LP a few nights ago. It sounds great. I'm sure the mono version isn't in the box set.
  2. As someone who has done what you're attempting, I can tell you that the most important piece of advice has been left out: Invest in extra band-aids and triple antibiotic ointment.
  3. Watched the opening ceremony. Could care less about the athletics.
  4. The aforementioned Warhol Daphis et Chloe (Warhol did the booklet illustrations):
  5. Interesting to see all these tunes listed in one place. Kind of makes a compelling counter-argument against the popular "rock killed jazz" cliche.
  6. Yes, it was the younger crowd from the office.
  7. Have you read Tom Wolfe's piece about what hipsters were listening to in the pre-Beatles 1960s?
  8. Will it sound as good as the mono LP?
  9. Interesting take, Larry. I have one issue with Madmen, and that is this: I think the directors went too far to NOT make Don Draper's house look too mid-century futuristic Jetsons. I understand the rationale, but I think an upwardly mobile ad exec in 1960 would have had hipper, more moderne decor in his house than Draper does.
  10. I really loved the first season of this show and so far I've found the second season to be every bit as riveting. The show really captures both the good and bad of that era. Any watchers?
  11. ARTISTS FORUM, PLEASE.
  12. I'll remember him for his songwriting with David Porter and his appearances on The Rockford ("Rockfish") Files. RIP, Mr. Hayes. Artists forum, please.
  13. Pete Terrace - Cole Porter in Latin America - Tico (mono)

  15. The Philadelphia Experiment.
  16. Hubler & Schwab - Vampyros Lebos (expanded) - Crippled Dick Hot Wax
  17. Before Andy Warhol was famous, he did the illustrations for the gatefold booklet with the Charles Munch/BSO recording of Ravel's "Daphnis et Chloe" on RCA.
  18. Franz Waxman - Sayanora - RCA (black dog mono) Hollywood postwar faux-orientalism at its best.
  19. Many of us would have taken you up on your offer, but now that we know you don't like Brubeck, we're worried that you'll think we're squares if we buy it.
  20. The Equals - Baby Come Back - RCA (yellow/orange label stereo but pre-dynaflex).
