  1. Gary McFarland is great - I have nearly everything he did. That documentary is worth checking out. Bill's list leaves out tracks from essential albums like "The In Sound" and "Scorpio and Other Signs."
  2. Francis Lai - A Man & A Woman OST - UA black label, mono.
  3. Who will conduct?
  4. Bastille Day. Michel Legrand - The Thomas Crown Affair OST - UA (orange and purple stereo).
  5. Nothing like it to get that authentic, grainy sound. TWICE. On one record.
  6. Howard Roberts - GUILTY!! On 11 Separate Counts of Being a Dirty, Funky, Swamp Bossa Nova Guitar Player - Capitol (stereo). Love these HR albums on Capitol. I have most of them now.
  7. I LIVE for album titles like this. My favorites are "Mallet Mischief" and "Mallets in Wonderland." Different strokes...
  8. I had "Solid Ground" on RCA, and while I thought it had its moments, the arrangements overall really didn't grab me. I ended up burning an exotic sounding number onto a CD-R though before I unloaded it.
  9. These days I'm more interested in arrangers than individual instrumentalists. Among my favorites - and I know I'm leaving out some: Andre Hodeir Ellington/Strahhorn Chico O'Farrill Lalo Schifrin Pete Rugolo Oliver Nelson The guys known as Quincy Jones Gerald Wilson Michel Legrand Les Baxter Henry Mancini Neal Hefti Clare Fischer Don Sebeskey Claus Ogerman Deodato
  10. Johnny Keating - Hotel OST - WB stereo
  11. George Benson can has cheezburger, onest.
  12. You're not a killjoy. You're just a guy who shops at Walmart. L7.
  13. You're keeping me, right?
  14. Close your eyes And lean back... Listen to Wind Chimes.
  15. Grant Green - Green is Beautiful - Blue Note (Euro import, blue and white label). I LOVES ME THIS REKKID!
  16. In other news, there is still a record label called "Blue Note." I just thought it was a logo owned by Capitol/EMI. No wonder they had to lay people off.
  17. Since my favorite corporation was brought up in the Metheny thread, I thought I'd bump this up.
  18. THE GREATEST ALBUM EVER MADE. The Latin Jazz All Stars - Jazz Heat, Bongo Beat - Crown (stereo) With Buddy Collette, Eddie Cano, Tommy Tedesco, Larry Bunker, and others.
