  1. I wouldn't be so sure about that -- in 2005 the Suns lost the first three to the Spurs (including two at home) before coming back and winning game 4. That said, yes, a loss tonight puts them on life support. Guy
  2. GoodSpeak, it would be nice of you would concede that you were incorrect about the Bonds poll earlier. Guy
  3. I definitely wouldn't use the word "tame" to describe Jordan's playing with this group. Guy
  4. Or use an ipod/MP3 player. Guy
  5. Actually, it's 52% according to the ESPN.com article written by Jayson Stark. That's more than half; a majority. No, you are misreading the article. 52% DON'T want him to break the record. Here are the results of the poll. Guy
  6. You are selling Jim's defense of Cuscuna short. Jim's point is that interpreting Cuscuna's comment as a blanket smear of the musicians you listed in your earlier post makes no sense, because the guy has been a consistent advocate of their music. That said, I think this is a legit criticism. Guy
  7. Stephen Jackson turns the ball over a lot when he drives into the key. Guy
  8. Oh well... it looked like the Warriors had a chance to win that one. Lots of 3 point chucking near the end. Nice to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle awaken from his slump to score 21 pts, though he did his usual 4th quarter disappearing act. Deron Williams outplayed Baron Davis. Matt Barnes had another great game. The Booze did not get 15 assists. Guy
  9. He wasn't king for 70 years -- that's a mistake in the article. (The Romans weren't ruling Judea in 74 BC either.) FWIW, I don't think there is a historical basis for the claim that he ordered all the children of Bethlehem to be killed. Guy
  10. My prediction for the Warriors-Jazz series -- assuming that Baron's healthy enough to perform as well as he did against the Mavs, the Jazz will in this in 5-7 games (so let's make it 6). If Baron's not healthy enough, Warriors will struggle to win more than a game. Guy
  11. Thanks for the photo, Tom. Guy
  12. The Pistons will not win this series... ...with a margin of 20 pts per game. Guy
  13. I've always thought it was hilarious how critics who'd slag prog rock as pretentious/bloated/self-indulgent/whatever would turn around and slobber all over Sonic Youth. Guy (Daydream Nation fan)
  14. Thanks! So it's on Dark Magus. I will have to play that tonight. Also on Pangaea. Guy
  15. One thing that bothers me a little about Karma is the combination of flute and French horn in the background. Guy
  16. I would go as far as to say that with this lineup Lloyd has the makings of a truly great and well-balanced quartet. The only previous time I've seen him was back around 1992 (with McCoy and Elvin) and this was way better. Yes, hope they record soon. Lloyd with Moran? Sounds fantastic -- I really want to hear this group. Guy
  17. I would LOVE to see during the playoffs series. Guy
  18. No doubt. I just couldn't believe how many three-footers he was missing, especially that last one where he split Duncan and Parker, didn't get hit, and blew it. I wonder if pre-surgery Amare would have been able to put those in. What if... Guy ps Warriors trivia: The Warriors' three highest-paid players are Baron Davis, Jason Richardson, and Adonal Foyle. pps The Knicks' highest-paid players (in descending order) are Allan Houston, Stephon Marbury, Steve Francis and Jalen Rose.
  19. That was a very good game (though I only really started paying attention in the 4th quarter). I'm not a huge fan of the Spurs' style of play, but Phoenix brings out the best in them. A classic PG duel between Nash and Parker. It's hard to beat the Spurs when Duncan, Finley and Parker combine for 82 pts on 32-57 shooting. Parker had a fantastic game, but his two best plays were giving Nash that nose job and the flop when Barbaro was chasing him near the end (which gave the Spurs 2 FT and the ball). Did Nash break his nose? btw, today's box score is somewhat similar to game 1 of the 2005 conference finals. Hopefully Phoenix will manage to win more than one game this time around. Guy
  20. Picking the "Allen Iverson Chucker of the Game" award is going to be tough when there are so many good contenders: Vince Carter 7-23 Jason Kidd 2-11 (AWFUL, but excused because he had the restraint to only take 11 shots) Lebron James 8-21 Larry Hughes 7-20 I think I am going to pick VC. I didn't watch this game, thank god. Guy
  21. I'm an idiot. I meant rebounds. Agreed. 15 assists a game would be amazing. FWIW, Boozer's numbers in 4 games against GS this season: 17 pts/14 reb (blowout Warriors loss in Utah) 4 pts/10 reb (near-blowout Warriors win in Oakland, without Baron Davis) 25 pts/21 reb (Warriors blow 4th quarter lead in Utah) 17 pts/11 reb (blowout Warriors win in Oakland) Guy
  22. Phoenix will lose at least one of the first two games to San Antonio. (I hope I'm wrong.) Carlos Boozer will average 35 ppg and 15 apg against the Warriors. I don't get it; THREE of ESPN.COM's experts picked the Warriors to beat the Jazz, and Tradesports has the Jazz as only a 55% favorite. How come everyone is more optimistic than me??? Guy
  23. Houston totally self-destructed in those last 9 seconds. What were they thinking??? Guy
  24. As long as there's no Warriors game, I might be up for Saturday as well. Guy
