  1. If you already have a main stereo system, you could always go with an Apple TV unit and stream it.
  2. Yep. Which is why I still remain skeptical.
  3. Anyone who knows me understands that Daniel Carter is my favorite tenor player. And I don't know who I'd put above Mr. Campbell as my favorite modern trumpet player. Maybe Dennis Gonzalez? If Roy has actually passed, it is a huge loss in our community.
  4. Still not sure if Roy Campbell Jr.'s death has been confirmed, but if so, we have lost two absolute greats today.
  5. Has this actually been confirmed? Always loved his playing with ODIM.
  6. *mini rant, I apologize in advance* You know, many "audiophiles" have made fun of my Harman Kardon receiver for years (except the one I know personally who actually heard it). But they actually build some pretty quality products. Their signature sound is warm and round. Certainly not on par with tubes, but a reasonable facsimile for the money. I had been running my main system with an old POS Sony VSX-whatthefuckever, and at 100WPC it powered my Polk Audio speakers "just fine". Then I bought my HK. It was rated at 45WPC, ran me $500 over a decade ago (the Sony was $250), and weighed as much as a compact car. My audiophile buddy, who had a $10,000+ tuber system with Martin Logan stats, came over and listened to it. Maybe not an exact quote, but he said something along the lines of, "holy shit, you went from a Pinto to a Porsche!" I still don't get why HK is so shit upon by the audiophile community. Yeah, it's budget material, but lightyears beyond the Pioneer/JVC/Yamaha/etc dreck that floods the big box stores. I've never heard the Jellyfish system, but I'd always second anyone who suggested HK gear. They are well beyond their price range in quality, and sound quality.
  7. Let's hope there aren't even hundreds...
  8. I had a set of Klipsch ProMedia's. Their sound is second to none. Second to none. My problem was that the sub stopped working just a few months after I bought them. I could whack the sub and it would come back on, but it was only temporary. I read a boatload of reviews from folks who had the exact same experience. No offense, but I'd encourage folks to steer clear of them. Especially considering how relatively expensive they are. If you luck out and get a set that doesn't shit the bed on you, you'll not find a more impressive sounding sub/sat system for your computer. If not, you'll be cursing the day you were born.
  9. Kuerig single cup. That's what we've rolled with for years. It's hard to beat.
  10. Had a pipe burst in my basement due to the weather. Oh my, it's so much fun...
  11. Or just set your money on fire. You'll get the exact same results.
  12. Someone here turned me onto Blue Hour not too long ago. Fantastic album. And I mean it as the highest praise when I call it a poor mans Kind of Blue.
  13. I had Altecs before I got my Logitechs. My wife still uses them down in the basement while she works out. It's another sub/sat system, and it easily fills a room. Altec also builds some excellent budget equipment. I second the option.
  14. I've had the Logitech Z4 2.1 set for years and have always been very happy with them. As far as I'm concerned you can't go wrong with Logitech no matter what. They build bulletproof products that are very budget friendly.
  15. Cool, let us know what you think.
  16. The answer to the question is quite simple: cold, really fucking cold. Started out at -9 this morning, BUT warmed up to a rather balmy...1 degree.
  17. That's exactly why I called it an anomaly. The Chiefs second stringers actually played better that day than the first stringers have played in almost two months. And I'd put the over/under for the Panthers/Niners at 42. People (and not you, Mike) are going to start learning all over again that defense still wins championships in the NFL. No matter how far Goodell goes in hampering defensive play. Top five defensive units at the end of the regular season: Seahawks Panthers Bengals Saints Niners Now, we all know the Bengals had about as much of a chance of making noise in the playoffs as the Eagles, Chiefs, and Packers. But, look at the four remaining teams. Two of those will make the NFC Championship, and the other two would beat ANY of the remaining AFC teams. Kids these days are under the woefully incorrect assumption that all it takes to win it all is a great QB and lots of offense. Um, yeah. Like that awesome QB Flacco and his unstoppable Ravens offense last year...
  18. Agreed. I could see Carolina actually going all the way. Also, don't write of San Diego. Aside from Arizona, I thought they were the sneakiest good team in the NFL at the end of the regular season. The hiccup against the Chiefs practice squad was an anomaly, IMO.
  19. They're just not a very good football team. Their defense has been downright abysmal for the past month and a half.
  20. Science proves that your back cover isn't any more glued on than any of ours.
  21. Without question! If I had the chance to get this phenomenal box set at that price, I wouldn't even give it a second thought. No brainer...
  22. OK, that makes me feel better. It's really not necessary, but it's nice enough to be able to turn the box over and see the playlist. Can't recall exactly what I paid for mine a decade ago (maybe $135?), but $90 is a steal either way.
  23. AHA! The plot thickens. I'm not the only one, then. Mine has always remained attached towards the top, and never completely come off. But if I didn't make a conscious effort to hold it in place whenever I grab the box it would have easily pulled all the way off by now.
  24. That's always been my assumption.
