  1. Damn, it has Jerome Richardson on it...guess I'll have to buy it just for that.
  2. At my high school it was the "Shop" teacher....he was also the head of the FFA.
  3. I would love to get back on the vinyl bandwagon, but I just can't see going back and trying to rebuild my vinyl collection. It would just take too damn long and cost too much money. I love the sound, I love holding that record in my hand...but I just don't have the time to waste on it. Now and again I'll pick up an LP of something that I can't find any other way, if I can get it cheap, but that's about it. At this point I'd rather invest in upgrading my digital music, getting better gear and using the computer as my main stereo component (which I've been doing for quite awhile now). Now that digital storage has gotten cheaper the idea of digitizing all my CDs, scanning the artwork and then packing them away in boxes out of sight appeals to me. I'm on a quest to simplify my existence as much as possible, running my music from a database on the computer has made picking what music to listen to alot easier.
  4. Ala-Carte service for cable would be hard to implement since so much revenue comes from so few channels. Customers demand more content choices, but many of these channels don't really bring in much money. Thus the lower revenue channels get bundled together with the higher earning ones, to help distribute the cost and make the bottom line look better. I sat in on an industry meeting once where they discussed this issue and said that if they went ala-carte that cable companies would have to drop many of the channels (due to lack of return on investment) and many of these channels would be forced to shut down. Not surprisingly many of the higher quality channels would be the ones to get axed.
  5. We spent twice as much time on the Civil War as anything else, talked some about WWII...Korea was only mentioned as a "police action"...I don't think I ever heard my history teachers even SAY the word Vietnam.
  6. The "point" isn't that we don't know what the Nazi party symbol was (we're not morons, thank you), but that the symbol pre-dated the Nazi's and has been used in variations by many different cultures. The symbol by itself is meaningless and neutral, it's only the use of it that colored it's history.
  7. First bass line I learned was the Peter Gunn theme.
  8. Mandy can hang with me in my Studio any day....
  9. Shawn, you're a wildman! Yeah, hold me back somebody...
  10. Won't you come home Bill Barton? Won't you come home?
  11. Hope you have a nice one!!!
  12. MMI was originally recommended to me by a lawyer, so that's why I signed up with them. I never had any issues with them applying the payments on time and their customer service was always firt-rate when I talked to them.
  13. I haven't worked with that particular company, they all operate basically the same. I have worked with these guys before and had no problems with them. MMI I feel your pain, I'm in basically the exact same boat as you are (except I have student loans as well). Good luck!
  14. Oh man, that bit is classic. I also loved the sketches where Conway would be the old man and move in super slo-mo. He would just DESTROY poor Harvey Korman. Nobody was ever funnier while trying to keep a straight face than Korman. That show was one of my fondest memories from childhood, used to watch it with my Grandparents and we'd all laugh hysterically. Korman was always my favorite, he was a giant of a comedian. One of my favorite sequeces is the one in High Anxiety when Korman and Cloris Leachman are having tea and the camera is under a glass coffee table...they keep setting the tea cups in the way of the camera...which has to keep moving and moving to try and keep them in the shot.
  15. Is it as dumb, not as dumb or dumber than the Sharon Stone thing? I say yes. Equivalent levels of mass stupidity on both "issues". Ain't we got enough real shit to deal with on a daily basis?
  16. Is it me or is this one of the DUMBEST "controversies" ever?
  17. The government would be much less uptight if they did a few bong hits now and again....
  18. My favorite is Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini...can't say I'm familiar with much else but that piece has always struck me.
  19. Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I ended up going with some Renato Carosone, Fred Buscaglione and some Louis Prima for spice. I'm sure they'll dig it.
  20. Wow! That's an eye-opener...and HIP!
  21. Perfect! Headline: Chuck Nessa gets Shawn fired!
  22. I was just tasked with one of those last minute "oh my God we HAVE to have it" tasks at work. They are having a "Little Italy" party tomorrow, they want some good authentic sounding (but fun) italian music...I talked them out of opera...but now I need something else...and the only thing I can think of is Louis Prima (which I'm planning on using, but I don't have any so need some suggestions for signature tunes there as well). Need stuff that's in print and available for sale online. Need about an hour's worth. Any help would be appreciated!
