  1. Was listening to the Dizzy Reece earlier today and was happy to hear that the Star Bright session sounds much better than the JRVG (which sounded like flat Coke). Great music of course...
  2. I don't have those sidebar buttons either...and I haven't found any place to activate them. But I'm REALLY enjoying this new browser, I've been a loyal firefox user for years now.
  3. The Sword - Gods of Earth (180 Gram Vinyl)
  4. So, have they ever found a way to safely dispose of the toxic residue left over from nuclear reactors? Other than burying it underground or blasting into space?
  5. I have a variety of software for Windows, but I'm looking for something equivalent for the MAC. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  6. I seem to have an internal filter that lets me easily separate an artists work from his/her life. I would venture a guess that MANY of the musicians I listen to I wouldn't want to hang out with on a social basis...but that's not going to stop me from enjoying their work.
  7. 1, 2 Freddy's comin' for you 3, 4 Better lock your door 5, 6 Grab your crucifix 7, 8 Better stay up late 9, 10 Never sleep again. Sorry, couldn't resist.
  8. God damn, is it even possible to have a SINGLE THREAD on this board not turn into a fucking pissing contest these days? I gotta say the shit is getting OLD.
  9. Kenny Burrell w/Jerome Richardson - "Afro Blue" from Up The Street, Down The Corner, Around The Block (Fantasy)

    Jerome Richardson

Thought I'd bring this back up for some air. Was listening to some of his mid-70's work with Kenny Burrell last night and was again reminded what a monster player he was. Too often he seems to be remembered as only a flute player, but this guy was a master saxophonist (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone)...one of those players that SHOULD have had many more opportunities to record as a leader than he did. Another album that jumped out at me recently was Coleman Hawkin's Stasch (included on Bean And The Boys - Prestige), Jerome plays some beautiful alto on this album and gives Hawk a perfectly capable sparring partner. Got to be some other fans of Jerome out there....
  11. Where nobody ever notices that Blackmore actually finger picks the riff...or they play it in the wrong key...
  12. http://www.winamp.com/
  13. One of these days I'll have to get one, my old Dell Pocket DJ bit the dust about 6 months ago. What I liked about it was that I didn't have to use any software to add or remove files, could do it all from windows explorer via drag and drop...I've never liked dealing the syncing.
  14. I could do that for ya....
  15. That's great Jim! Pass on my congratulations!
  16. Have you heard it? If AMG is to be believed, this sounds like it's right up there (or down there) with Elegant Soul. I hope it's better than that! I have an LP burn of that, I enjoy it...like all of Reuben's Blue Note dates...take that as either a recommendation or a condemnation depending on what you think of my taste.
  17. Jazzbo's Telecaster is S-W-E-E-T!!!! Man, what an easy guitar to play!
  18. 100 Degrees in Austin...which actually feels cooler than 95 degrees in muggy Virginia.
  19. Guinnevere had green eyes Like yours, mi'lady like yours When she'd walk down Through the garden In the morning after it rained Peacocks wandered aimlessly Underneath an orange tree Why can't she see me? Guinnevere Drew pentagrams Like yours, mi'lady like yours Late at night When she thought that no one was watching at all She shall be free As she turns her gaze Down the slope to the harbor where I lay Anchored for a day Guinnevere Had golden hair Like yours, mi'lady like yours Streaming out when we'd ride Through the warm wind down by the bay Yesterday Seagulls circle endlessly I sing in silent harmony We shall be free
  20. You and me both, I've been meaning to try and learn that one on guitar...thanks for the reminder.
  21. I remember hearing this tune on the radio several years ago and wanting to pull over to the side of the road to puke... "Figured You Out" by Nickleback I like your pants around your feet And I like the dirt that's on your knees And I like the way you still say please While you're looking up at me You're like my favourite damn disease And I love the places that we go And I love the people that you know And I love the way you can't say no Too many long lines in a row I love the powder on your nose And now I know who you are It wasn't that hard, just to figure you out (Now I did, you wonder why) And now I know who you are It wasn't that hard, just to figure you out (Now I did, you wonder why) I like the freckles on your chest And I like the way you like me best And I like the way you're not impressed While you put me to the test I like the white stains on your dress And I love the way you pass the check And I love the good times that you wreck And I love your lack of self-respect While you passed out on the deck I love my hands around your neck etc....
  22. Well, despite many opinions to the contrary...it's Gilmour that I listen to Floyd for. He's one of my all-time favorite lead guitarist, lyricism to the extreme (due to him singing his solos into a recorder and then re-learning them on guitar)...I'll definitely be picking this one up (at least the version with the DVD).
