  1. I resemble that remark.
  2. I've gone a little "greener" and shut my computer down when I go to sleep or leave for work. But I used to leave it on 24/7.
  3. I rented this game from Blockbuster and it's ALOT of fun and incredibly detailed...to the point of surrealism. It's an odd experience. The Jazz radio station is very cool, they even have little between song banter...it's a little strange though to be gunning down people on the street to a bebop beat.
  4. Keepnews was probably worried that if they printed the acronym someone would figure it out....or they told him the song title and he mis-understood it and spelled it out the best he could. "Joe's Avenue" anyone?
  5. When I enter one of my depressed phases, it's not just music that suffers. I don't enjoy ANYTHING. I don't want to hear any music, watch movies, TV, read...or do anything for that matter. I just enter hibernation mode where all I want to do is sleep. But thankfully it's been quite a while since I went through one of those and I'm actually feeling better about life now than I have in at least 5 years.
  6. I dated a truly insane girl once (didn't realize it for a few weeks, she was on good behavior)...but when we had our first real argument...she pulled a steak knife out of the kitchen drawer and came at me with it. I was able to avoid injury and thankfully she quickly moved on to terrorize the rest of the human race.
  7. From imdb: Kim Cattrall was born on August 21, 1956 in Widnes, England, approximately 16 miles east of Liverpool. At the age of three months, emigrated with her father, Dennis, and mother, Shane, to Canada, where a large number of her films have been made. At the age of eleven, Kim returned to her native country and studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Upon her return to Vancouver, Canada, Kim graduated high school at age sixteen and won a scholarship to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. During her final year at the academy, she won a part in Otto Preminger's Rosebud (1975). Following her film debut Kim returned to the theatre first in Vancouver and then played repertory in Toronto prior to winning a contract at Universal in Los Angeles.
  8. I can see an artist like Todd Rungren being all over this new format possibility. If I could get box sets on a single disc, in better sound, with multimedia capabilities...I'm all for it.
  9. He was found impaled on a large electrical device...it took over an hour just to get the smile off his face.
  10. I wonder if Coltrane inspires the same reaction as the smell of jock straps in Porky's?
  11. Good album, I also have to agree that it's not "essential", but definitely enjoyable. Also, not surprisingly, I agree with MG's preference for the Prestige dates. The Timmons release I've enjoyed most recently was the Blakey Jazz Icons DVD from '58, it was cool to be able to watch him perform those tunes...I've always loved concert videos and that's a damn fine one.

Love that! My Mother had a mustang with a beautiful paint job, but the motor was blown.
  13. Happy Birthday Chuck!
  14. Very sorry for your loss. I went through a period like this for a couple years, where I either didn't listen to music at all...or if I did it just sounded two-dimensional and I had lost all emotional attachment to it. I also had the same reaction to films, and since these are two of my greatest joys in life it was a very hard time to get through. It seemed like I just didn't have the attention span for anything, so I ended up watching lots of series TV (which I usually abhore) because it didn't require any "effort" on my part. It was just background noise to help shut out the emotional maelstrom brewing in my head. Completely related to depression (which I have a long history of). I came through it and now find myself enjoying music, films, etc with greater passion than ever before.
  15. I've been fighting recurrent major depression my entire life, it's just part of my make-up. I can say without a shred of exaggeration that music has "saved" me on numerous occasions.
  16. I read this years ago and forgot what a fine little book it is.
  17. She's only 24, I have a feeling her singing will probably improve with age and more practice. But the production is terrible on that song, about as unflattering as I've heard.
  18. Thanks, that answers my question about multiple logons.
  19. Every website you visit sees your IP address, what browser you're using, what area your ISP is located in, etc.
  20. Thanks for the Adblock info, installed and offending item removed.
  21. http://www.danasoft.com/ I had the same reaction, it's a little gimmik that mirrors your IP address back to you (everyone sees their own IP address). It's safe.
