  1. I like to think I'm fairly open-minded about music and have a well-rounded appreciation for the most part, but I gotta say I don't understand Bruce at all. I've tried multiple albums over the years, but it's like fingernails on chalkboard to me. "Born To Run" especially, that song makes me want to stab my eardrums with a screwdriver. But that's just me...if other people dig it, that's great.
  2. This is an interesting list from the RIAA that provides the "total album sales" in the in U.S. per artist. 1. The Beatles - 177 million 2. Elvis Presley - 134.5 million 3. Garth Brooks - 128 million 4. Led Zeppelin - 111.5 million 5. Eagles - 100 million 6. Billy Joel - 81.5 million 7. Pink Floyd - 74.5 million 8. Elton John - 72 million 9. Barbara Streisand - 71.5 million 10. AC/DC - 71.5 million 11. Michael Jackson - 70.5 million 12. George Strait - 68.5 million 13. Aerosmith - 66.5 million 14. The Rolling Stones - 66 million 15. Bruce Springsteen - 64.5 million 16. Madonna - 64 million 17. Mariah Carey - 63.5 million 18. Metallica - 60 million 19. Van Halen - 56.5 million 20. Whitney Houston - 55 million You can see more of the list on their website: http://www.riaa.com/goldandplatinum.php?content_selector=top-selling-artists
  3. I'd like to "weigh in" on Pat Robertson. Possibly either by dropping a boulder on him...or maybe parking a truck on his head.
  4. Cool, thanks for sharing. I'll check it out!
  5. Coffee - The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf - French Roast
  6. Happy 30th Anniversary to Iron Maiden's "The Number Of The Beast". Released March 22nd, 1982. Lp Cover: Single cover: LP Center (side one) (the hole is inside Eddie's mouth)
  7. I also vaguely remember a late 70's TV show called "Cliffhangers" (or something like that), it featured a vampire plot as one of it's continuing stories.
  8. I have no pity for Williams, either. Most definitely. However, the Coach is ultimately responsible for the conduct of his staff...and you KNOW he knew exactly what was going on.
  9. I think the movie looks HILARIOUS. Dark Shadows is ripe for parody, so this doesn't surprise me at all.
  10. Payton deserves the suspension. That is one of the more despicable things I've come across in recent memory.
  11. The blind leading the terminally stupid?
  12. What's a good example, currently, that fits this description? Or, if there is nothing current, how far back do you have to go to find pop music that fits this description? Just curious.
  13. That site does not allow hot-linking of images. What's the name of the show?
  14. Here's a performance clip from Saturday Night Live. It just sounds like polite, white R&B to me, but I don't pay attention to genre designations, so it could be considered something else entirely. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVpk8xZR7Ek It doesn't do anything for me. I much prefer Laura Marling for current UK singers.
  15. Here are the top 10 U.S. only albums sales figures taken from the RIAA website, which is interesting to compare to the U.K. only list posted earlier in the thread. 1. The Eagles - Greatest Hits 1971-1975 - 29 Million 2. Michael Jackson - Thriller - 27 Million 3. Led Zeppelin - IV - 23 Million 4. Pink Floyd - The Wall - 23 Million 5. AC/DC - Back In Black - 22 Million 6. Billy Joel - Greatest Hits Vol. 1 & 2 - 21 Million 7. Garth Brooks - Double Live - 21 Million 8. Shania Twain - Come On Over - 20 Million 9. The Beatles - The Beatles - 19 Million 10. Fleetwood Mac - Rumors - 19 Million
  16. That list was only for the UK, it does not reflect world-wide album sales. Pink Floyd is still safe and sound on that list with over 50 million copies of Dark Side Of The Moon sold, 2nd only to Michael Jackson's Thriller.
  17. Hot For Teacher would be fairly far down any list I'd create. It's a fun track, but I think VH did much better elsewhere.
  18. Cool! Glad you had a good time, it was kind of sad missing SXSW this year.
  19. Sorry for the confusion on that, they were imported from my iTunes library which is why they showed up on Spotify when i logged on.
  20. Pulse isn't awful, it's just not that inspired. It works better with the visual element of the DVD.
  21. Okay, you are probably right, I have Pink Floyd in my iTunes library and I think Spotify imported it. Sorry for any confusion.
  22. Grimm was renewed for a second season, that's good news to me, one of the few new shows I've enjoyed watching each week. It's so low-key I was concerned about it's chances, but it seems to have found an audience.
  23. Not surprised, I had no interest in seeing that.
  24. Quincy brings up a very valid point, it was the concert DVDs of Porcupine Tree and Opeth that REALLY cemented both bands with me. "Arriving Somewhere", filmed on the Deadwing tour was my real introduction to Porcupine Tree and it's a practically perfect performance. Anesthetize is equally as good and features the Fear Of A Blank Planet album performed in it's entirety. "Lamentations" by Opeth I recommend just as highly, I actually watched the concert prior to listening to any studio recordings and was instantly hooked by them. The concert is split into two sets. Set One is the Damnation album (plus Harvest from Blackwater Park), all clean vocals and very melodic. Set Two dips into the heavier aspects of the band, including the definitive performance of the song "Deliverance".
