  1. Still quite a good movie, just a completely different style. I preferred the suspense/horror of the original to the straight up action of Aliens...yet still, for its type, a pretty impressive film that once it gets going doesn't stop for a second.
  2. Been alternating between watching "Kitchen Nightmares" (U.S. version) and "Hell's Kitchen". I usually detest reality shows, but for some strange reason I'm enjoying both of these.
  3. I am pretty sure all the stuff by ST has made it to US cds. I took another look, and Ain't No Way, a quartet with Tyner, is the one I can't pin down... I believe the majority of that session was issued as bonus tracks on "Easy Walker". The title track (with Shirley Scott) was issued as a bonus track on "Common Touch".
  4. Funny People had the benefit of the very hot hand of Judd Apatow who is easily one of the most inspired comedy directors in recent memory (along with Wes Anderson). I attribute its success more to that than Sandler.
  5. Stanley's batting average was damn impressive all through the 1960s, there are MANY more albums that I enjoy than not. I just love his sound, I can listen to him no matter what mood I'm in and it always hits home. The "soul" in his sound is one of the reasons I return so frequently to his work, it just clicks with me completely. I would say the same thing about Blue Mitchell, Grant Green, Donald Byrd, John Patton (and others)...all players that I never tire of.
  6. Sad new indeed. A fine comedy/romance screenwriter, she inherited quite a bit of talent from her parents. R.I.P.
  7. I can't stand Sandler, the only movie I liked was "Punch Drunk Love" and that film's success was more the direction than Sandler. I don't find his brand of humor to be even remotely funny.
  8. Jack Bruce with Robin Trower: (1981) (1981) (2008) (2009)
  9. Very entertaining album, highly recommended.
  10. That album is a blast! I would definitely recommend it.
  11. Why would anyone buy a DVD player at this point in time? Blu-ray is superior in every aspect.
  12. Because they're fun albums? Wounded Bird by it's very nature is going to get the lesser known albums to release, since their focus is to release albums that the original labels have no intention of bothering with. That by itself doesn't mean the material is mediocre, just that the projected sales aren't high enough for a major to reissue.
  13. Eureka: Season 5
  14. I actually saw the film 'Fire Walk With Me" prior to seeing the series, in hindsight not the best choice.
  15. Glad you liked it! Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz are both favorites of mine. I've also been re-watching the UK show "Spaced" recently, which is another Edgar Wright/Simon Pegg bit of wackiness.
  16. Cool, I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually, I'm watching series faster than they can make them!
  17. I hadn't been watching Awake (aside from the pilot) because I had a feeling there was no way it would get picked up for a second season. A shame, seemed like an interesting concept...but since there will be no resolution I'll invest my time elsewhere.
  18. A friend and I have been watching Bones (he had never seen the series), this season is so good.
  19. LOL. No need to rush. It's a goofy good time though.
  20. Been curious about that one, I'm not a big martial arts fan, but occasionally I get in the mood for it. Did you ever check out "Attack The Block"?
  21. I recently saw here in a guest spot on Vampire Diaries, you are right, she's quite the statuesque lovely.
  22. Foo Fighters are a killer group, they've been around for a long time now but it almost seems like they are just getting warmed up. Very few drummers make the transition to frontman/guitarist...and kick ass in both positions. Grohl is a talent, that's for sure.
