  1. Since my first exposure to Hammonds was early 70's rock stuff, there's always a soft spot for the sound conjured by people like Jon Lord & Ken Hensley. The distortion in this context was every bit as important as the guitar. In fact, if you listen to early Deep Purple you'll notice that Lord's organ has more distortion on it than Blackmore's guitar does. Have I mentioned that I love distortion?
  2. Chord Change by Camel.

  5. Kind of like the parking lot visible on the "other planet" at the beginning of Spacehunter: Adventures In The Forbidden Zone? (don't ask me why that popped into my head first thing)
  6. Instead of trying to compile a list, I just went with my immediate gut reaction... Johnny Hodges Marion Brown Sonny Criss

  10. Excellent neighborhood, lots of restaurants and hip little boutique shops. Quick bus ride to downtown (probably less than 10 minutes).
  11. Happy Birthday my friend. Also, Mila wishes you a happy 55th from a "10"....
  12. I love that kind of stuff.
  13. Cowbell, funny.
  14. Do you find, on the whole, any issues with the percussion in this group? Based on the live album "On Your Feet" and the song Buck's Boogie, I would say the rhythm section was quite adept. It's basically just rock n roll cranked up and played with tongue in cheek bravado.
  15. http://shop.ebay.com/dudleyesque/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340 low starting bids, no reserves, good luck!
  16. The Bengals always seem to lean towards "colorful" with their signings.
  17. The Red Garland albums were some of the first piano trio albums I heard and are still favorites to this day. There was a magic groove to Red's playing, he was hip in all kinds of ways. All Kinds Of Weather and A Garland Of Red are two near the top of the list, but they are pretty much all equally excellent.
  18. that would explain things.
  19. Hawk Mumbley, Leanne Morgan, Teeny Brooks, Pete Lacucaracha, Billy Schnitzingruben...all the great ones are gone.
  20. Blue Oyster Cult - and no, I don't feel the slightest bit guilty about it.
  21. Out of curiosity, are there any bands you actually like? I mean, you've had tons to say about groups that don't measure up to your standards...wanna name off 10 or 15 albums that actually do? I'd be curious to see what the PROG MASTER has to say.
  22. Damn. Wish I could have gotten the chance to see you guys at some point. I hope the best for everything in the future.
