Some fine saxophone playing in progress tonight, with Melissa Aldana, Pablo Menares (bass), Francisco Mela (drums), and Glenn Zaleski (piano).
-
In today's mail came, Bobby Previte and So Percussion--Terminals, a full year after the funding campaign, and also Dave Burrell/Steve Swell--Turning Point (No Business), very quickly arrived all the way from Lithuania, and finally, Albert King, Live in the 70s (Rockbeat).
-
I believe this release was authorized by Horace Silver (it was in the works prior to his death). At least, that's what the liner notes lead one to believe.
-
I have it (dustygroove has been selling it); it is good and well recorded also.
-
Later in the week, Melissa Aldana and the Crash Trio (Wednesday) and James Weidman (Friday).
-
Tonight, the Ari Hoenig Quartet--with Gilad Hekselman on guitar.
-
Miles Davis, Enigma (Blue Note 10 inch), and Jimmy Smith, At the Club Baby Grand (Blue Note mono, NY USA/Lexington).
-
Grant Green, Grandstand (Blue Note mono NY USA)
-
Back tonight for some more live Mark Whitfield.
-

The Code did work for me today. A pretty good deal on the Scott LaFaro release ($9) and the Charles Lloyd ($14). -
I only have the Junior Mance/David Newman on LP, and it's quite good. I'm definitely interested in this set.
-
Tonight, the elegant pianist Simona Premazzi, leading a quartet including Dayna Stephens and Ugonna Ukegwo.
