  1. Ah, it's been a long time since we've had a "Rooster Ties lengthy-titled thread". And TWO in one day, no less! Outstanding!
  2. It looks like what I believe is called a "fruit tart".
  3. If it was a pricing mistake they should have acknowledged that. I assumed it was a mistake, but when they seemed to be attempting to process the orders I started thinking that it might actually happen. Doesn't matter really, I'll still buy stuff from Amazon.
  4. Just got my cancellation notice. No biggie, I really wasn't expecting it to happen. Kind of a lame way of doing business on Amazon's end though.
  5. Damn, I may drive up from Tallahassee for that!
  6. Happy Birthday Patesta & Catrick!
  7. That looks like a bass trumpet, that's what I was thinking was what EKE was talking about.
  8. He's just got his hands in everything.........
  9. Hey, I enjoy aloc's posts. I think he's obviously very intelligent and pleasantly quirky. BTW, you misspelled "midget". Just trying to help.
  10. Happy Birthday brownie!
  11. Skid, you're breakin' my heart!
  12. I still don't get the lyrics to that. At all. However, it did give the big bands something to play until Chameleon and Birdland came around. And I'll never have the recipe again. Oh nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...............
  13. M H a ppy Bi r thday! e n
  14. Shangri-la? How's the music scene there? Record stores? BBQ joints?
  15. Isetta bad thing?
  16. Is there any place that isn't prone to some type of natural disaster or extreme weather? Seems like every place has their "bear to cross", some more so than others, of course.
  17. come on down, man! Me too. I know that tune. Me too! My solo works really well over those changes! Congrats Paul!
  18. Yes, she definitely goes both ways.
  19. The check went into the mail today! I've heard several recordings of them together (unreleased stuff, live tapes) and they really seem to inspire each other. They don't have the elaborate arrangements of J&K, but they each get their moments to shine. There always seems to be a feeling that they're having a great time, and their contrasting styles really complement each other. Jazz trombone at its best IMHO. I'm really looking forward to checking this out. They appear together on Bill Holman's "In a Jazz Orbit" and also Bobby Knight's "Cream of the Crop" but they don't interact much on those. It's great to hear them playing off of each other, as I expect will be the case on this release. BTW, the recording date puts it about three and a half months before Frank's death. Thanks again for making this happen , Chuck! I will do my best to spread the word amongst my fellow trombonists (and others).
  20. I think our host is remarkably tolerant. We're very fortunate to be able to say pretty much anything we want here, but I think it's also important to remember that we are guests. I sometimes wonder why Jim hasn't gotten fed up with some of this BS and pulled the plug, but I'm glad he hasn't because the good stuff is pretty darn good. I've enjoyed this place for several years now, I look forward to signing on each day and reading many interesting posts- there is quite an impressive cast of characters here. It's really been a great part of my life, and I would sure miss it if it went away.
  21. Very cool. Perfect for the song.
  22. Funny, those are the three that I would choose between if I were to vote in the poll. Different strokes, that's what makes life interesting. I really try to stay open to discovering new things- most of these discoveries (especially outside of jazz) have been a result of recommendations from this board. Oh yeah, and Happy Birthday, Matthew!
  23. Great news! Sign me up, baby! EDIT: BTW, isn't "trombone heaven" an oxymoron?
