  1. And what the hell does "pfargtl" mean?
  2. Well, I said "everyone," but it was a common assumption and was even reported at the time. I was fairly young also, but I remember seeing her on various variety shows of that era singing the song. It was "reported" that she was black? Just curious, what does that mean?
  3. FFA thinks it sounds like the high-tech aloc will no longer be leaving the house
  4. The time for me to seek professional care came about long before this thread appeared!
  5. I've so far avoided posting in this thread, but come on, Alexander, this is a major cop-out! You know (and we know) EXACTLY what your intent was when you posted that picture, and the text that accompanied your post eliminates any doubt! I have no problems with what you believe, but come on, man! Don't use the pretense of "but this is art" when you're trying to make another point entirely! "Golden filter"! LMAO!
  6. Will there be pot seeds in the spine?
  7. I heard the Mattel plant tour is pretty popular, but beware of the gift shop.
  8. Culpepper was obviously extra-motivated to put the screws to the Fins. Hopefully his inspired (and healthy) play will continue.
  9. I remember the mid-70s lame movie, back during the "Robby Benson years" (I remember because that's when I was working as a projectionist in a movie theatre and it came to town, so I saw it again and again and again. IIRC it was rumored to have been based on a true story, not sure if that was true or not. I think the scandalous nature of the sex/murder/suicide story had something to do with the tune's popularity and longevity. I see the film was produced by Max "Jethro" Baer, Jr. Music by Michel Legrand- I don't remember anything other than the song.
  10. Crazy shit! I don't think I've ever seen so many upsets in one weekend. On the upside, I think FSU may have found a quarterback!
  11. This poor guy was doomed from the beginning. No one could have survived that interview. I totally can't blame him for losing it when the guy said "sweet talk". I agree that no one could have survived that interview. If that wasn't bad enough that guy with the deep gravelly voice would've sealed his fate. Geez, I feel kinda sorry for that host, now a dj. I'm pretty sure the whole thing was a put-on.
  12. I remember seeing this. Very funny stuff!
  13. Just listened to this, and I must say I really enjoyed it. The group includes Wayne Shorter, Dave Holland, Vinnie Colaiuta and guitarist Lionel Loueke. The featured vocalists include Norah Jones, Tina Turner, Corinne Bailey Rae, Joni Mitchell, Luciana Souza and Leonard Cohen. Each singer does a Joni Mitchell tune and the group does four instrumental tunes (Sweet Bird, Both Sides Now, Solitude and Nefertiti). Now I'm afraid I didn't get the version with the bonus tracks (I forgot about the extras until after the fact), so I'll leave it to someone else to comment on those. It's a drag that some versions of the CD don't have that material. There is a decidedly mellow mood to the recording, and Wayne does his thing as only Wayne can do- little murmurs behind the vocals, etc. I must say one of the biggest surprises is how great Tina Turner sounds on Edith and the Kingpin! I wasn't sure how the singers were going to do on Joni's tunes, but I thought they all sounded very good. Yes, even Norah! I hadn't heard of the guitarist, but he adds a lot to the music. Vinnie sounds very good too- he plays a lot of Tony-isms on Nefertiti. The interaction of the group and the unhurried vibe of the whole thing really creates an effective mood. Great band. For me, Wayne gets the MVP. No one can do what he does. One of a kind. I'll be interested to hear what others think of this. I was a little skeptical going in (I'm not always a fan of the "singer buffet"), but I was very pleasantly surprised!
  14. I'm feeling better already. Go 'Noles! (I'm going to the NC State game here next Saturday). :rsmile:
  15. Agster, my sympathy for your situation is matched only by my frustrating attempt to shift my loyalty to the team(s) I've spent much time detesting, namely all things Florida. (I mean, Goodspeak has certainly expressed his feelings in an articulate educator-like manner( )). I feel so dirty, yet I'm compelled to conform......must....resist...tomahawk.....chop.......!
  16. Buzz, I'm thinking you'll like this one. Let us know what you think. :rsmile:
  17. Dan, I truly hope you get through this weekend without blowing a gasket. Me, I'll always be a Cubbies fan deep down, so I'm expecting heartbreak.
  18. Not that close really, since it was recorded on 31st May 1955, over a year before his death. Which takes nothing away from the music, of course. Wow.....I was fairly sure the original date given on the recording's liner notes (June 25, 1956, the day before he died) was incorrect, but I didn't know the correct date was an entire year earlier! My recommendation still stands, though!
  19. I keep coming back to the "Beginning and the End" recording, specifically for Clifford's great solos on Donna lee, Walkin' and Night in Tunisia. It's not his last recording, but it's pretty close.
  20. I really like the one he did w/Mulligan on Bluebird, I believe it's called "Two of a Mind".
  21. I got this new release email from Amazon. An interesting compilation of his Europe appearances, but kind of a strange description. And what's up with the spelling? "Soneymoon"? WTF? 22. Looks like the asterisk option was the winner.
  23. Now THERE'S a prime time show I'd watch. Music by Barry White. "And the winners are: Milla Jovovich and Bill Gates....now GET IT ON BAYBEE!" (Dick Vitale)
