  1. I stared at her for a minute; all she did was put on a robe and split.
  2. Whatever happened to the idea of talking about discussing the possibility of thinking about meeting to explore the idea of talking about considering the concept of starting a band?
  3. Oops, I thought this was about a new menu item at Wendy's...you know, extra cheese and lots of secret sauce...
  4. Try sleeping with two people and a 70-pound German Shepherd in a queen-size bed. My wife loves to remind me that she suggested we get a king-size bed when we first moved into our house, several years before the dog came along. Hindsight's always 20-20. Our dog (60 pounder) had great skill at sneaking stealthily onto the bed, then getting between us and ever so slowly spreading out, pushing out w/his paws and back until we were both in opposite corners and he was in the prime center spot. :rsmile:
  5. Talk about lobbing one right over the plate!
  6. I'm enjoying the stories, too. It does make me miss my dog a lot. When I moved to Florida he stayed with the ex in KC (mutual but very difficult decision)- he has a great yard and will be well taken care of (he still goes to Santa Fe every summer). But he and I were great pals, and he is the type of dog (border collie mix) that does not let many people into the "inner circle". I think about him every day. I'd get another dog, but my schedule is such that it would be difficult to care for one properly. He used to fall asleep while looking out the living room window (with his feet up on the back of the sofa) and gradually start to topple over in slow motion. If you happened to be sitting next to him, you'd gradually end up with a lapful of dog. Best part of my day, hands down.
  7. Hey, I'm just happy to see a current photo of our pal Aric instead of that one that was making the rounds awhile back. Nice to put a face with them ca-RAZY posts!
  8. Sometime ago there was a tape floating around of someone (I think it might have been Bobby Shew) who added another trumpet track to a bunch of Herb Alpert Tijuana Brass recordings, but like a half-step out of tune and really poorly played, missing rhythms, entrances etc. It was very funny, I wish I could find it again. Kind of the same thing as the Jonathan and Darlene bit that Jo Stafford and her husband did.
  9. Keep playing jazz gigs 'til the money runs out. ba-DUM.
  10. Sure do. When does it start?
  11. Link, please.
  12. I liked that recording- Kenny Werner did all the arrangements, and it did have a Gil Evans-ish tone to it. I was also wondering recently about what happened to Hollyday.
  13. H B H G !! ....and many more!
  14. FUCK, Joe! I'm so sorry. Shit like this just shouldn't happen to people. "Stuff" can be replaced, and I'm glad you and Rachel are safe, but I know this hurts. It's a violation of your space and loss of important personal items that probably aren't of much value to the fucking scum who took them. Sometimes this world is a very disappointing place. But you also get to choose what brings you down, and while this experience is a big fucking drag (I really don't "get" people sometimes) I have faith that you shall persevere. I can't imagine the feeling you must have had as you realized what had happened....... Are you out in the boonies? Any neighbors close by who might have seen anyone? All the best to you and Rachel. You shall overcome, my friend! I'm so sorry....
  15. What does that sound like? Sorry, I removed my post. Need to think about this some more.
  16. That would be assuming he's wearing pants in the first place.
  17. Are we talking about the same thing? Since I moved to hot & humid Florida my box has gone downhill fast. Fortunately I have all the CDs and booklet separately stored, I just keep the box as sort of a science project.
  18. BTW, I'll donate again if Jim promises to sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" at some point.
  19. Payment sent. Thanks again for providing such a great place to hang, Jim! As much of a pain as this place can be for you, Jim, I'd sure hate to see it go away. It's definitely the most fun, informative and well-tempered of all the jazz sites IMHO. Keep up the good work, my man! Cheers to Organissimo!
  20. A sure thing.
  21. Actually, the Big Ten pretty much sucks this year. Yet, they have the No. 1 ranked team in the country right now. Weird. We'll see how long that lasts- Ohio State has upcoming away games at Michigan and Penn State, and Wisconsin and Illinois at home. I've given up doing anything but taking it all one week at a time- this is the craziest season I've ever seen, and it's made the NCAA much more interesting than this season's NFL games, IMHO. It would be pretty wild to see USF in that #1 spot, wouldn't it?
  22. The Pats have a pretty soft schedule for the rest of the season- looks like the 11/4 game w/Indy will be a biggie, especially if both teams are still undefeated at that point. Indy has a much tougher schedule ahead. NE simply looks unstoppable!
