The Climax label was created in 1943 during the American Federation of Musicians recording ban.
Writer Bill Russell organized a recording session by George Lewis and his musicians in New Orleans but did not take the chance to release the music. He offered the best numbers from the session to Alfred Lion who released them on the newly created label.

I won't miss him at all. A great champion, yes! But one whose career was so tainted!
I miss the Copis, Merckxs, Anquetils, and their likes, the ones who added panache to their victories.
How's the sound quality? I have most of the CDs (and 'Civilisation' on vinyl) and as a Williams Fanatic am tempted by this one.
Sounds fine to me. I don't have the vinyl to compare
