Does not matter to the public for whom these sets are mainly released. The series is aimed at supermarkets.
Surprised they included the Jimmy Raney set among the new reissues.
And doubt that they will have a Barney Wilen set among their future releases.
Sony which has taken over the Vogue label is reissuing a number of material on double CDs. All at pretty reasonable prices.
For those who missed the original reissues (note however that the double CDs are not complete...):
From what I understand Terroade has been back in his native Jamaica for years and is still living there.
He was very present when in Paris in the late '60s. I saw him perform on various occasions with François Tusques (and Beb Guérin) at the Vieille Grille club and with Sonny Murray in concert at the Musée d'Art Moderne.
Intense and serious player. His BYG date was excellent!
There were two Paris concerts by the Monk quartet in February 1964.
The first one was on February 22 at the Alhambra, a music hall on the right bank of the city. The concert was held at 6PM (so as not to conflict with the regular 9PM show there). I did not make it because I was working until early evening at the time. Bud Powell did attend that show.
I did make it to the Maison de la Radio on te following day.
The Alhambra show was released on the Esoldun label
(there never was a Vol. 2. It probably was canned after the series was ordered to close!).
The Maison de la Radio concert was also released by Esoldun on a double CD 'Live in Paris 1964'(cannot trace a scan of it).
