The Lionel Hampton orchestra at the Palais de Chaillot in September 1953 (I was a few weeks short of turning 14). That was the band with Clifford Brown, Art Farmer, Quincy Jones, Jimmy Cleveland, Gigi Gryce...).

I haven't heard the music, but what a great Jim Flora cover this has: On now, Fresh Sound lp reissue I had this as an HMV LP bought when I was a teenager holidaying in England to try and learn the local language. Loved the music (and he album cover) so much that I HAD to get an original RCA Victor. Took me a long time... Now spinning: Booker Ervin 'The Song Book' (Prestige, Bergenfield, mono)
