The '80s was not the best decade for Miles. 'Aura' sounds to me as one of the most challenging of his albums from the decade. But the concerts were the best way to listen to his music by then. The Montreux box for instance includes several mighty fine concerts!

What a shameful way for France to qualify Ireland had the best team and should have won! The qualification also means that the Bleus will be stuck with Domenech for one more year!

I would not rate 'Star People' among Miles' best albums from the '80s! Much better records from that era are available!

I'm sure the majority of that particular lineup were with George Coleman's Octet when I saw them in London many years back (Strozier, Moore, Mabern for sure). Maybe recorded same tour? (1980-ish) The Strozier SteepleChase was recorded in November 1977. Strozier was a member of the George Coleman Octet at around the same time. I envy you for having heard him live. Never had the chance. He is one of ma favorite players. Wish there were more albums with him...

Always wanted to listen to that LP (at least the tracks with Frank Rehak, one of my heroes!). Never ran into it. A very rare item...

I'll wipe the cobwebs and fungi off of mine and give it a spin ! If you intend to relisten to the box, suggest you skip discs 1 and 2. Those were recorded at the group's debut stage when their singing was much more conventional!

Release date for the Ella in Hollywood box is November 30, indicates Amazon.fr! The universalmusic.fr website is hopeless. No indication there about the Ella box or the Getz People Time that came out today!

The Joe Williams Everyday I Have the Blues album was on the Complete Studio Sessions box, as well as 'Just the Blues' and 'Back to Basie and the Blues'! Great (and heavy! in its vinyl version) box!

I had a brief look at the box. Everything was recorded on consecutive nights at the Montmartre club in March 1991. Looked like all seven discs had nothing but duos!

The Four Freshmen Fifties Sessions, discs 4 and 5 The 5 Trombones, 5 Trumpets and 5 Saxes sessions! Know I am in a minority but I love those albums!

Rex Hollywood also recorded Charles Mingus in 1949. The released sides were on the Charles Mingus Wes Coast 1945-49 Uptown CD.
