  1. The Pete Johnson/Earl Hines/Teddy Bunn Blue Note Sessions LP
  2. No contest from me! At least after watching him play during the World Cup! From BBC SPORT: HABANA WINS PLAYER OF YEAR AWARD South Africa winger Bryan Habana has been named the International Rugby Board's player of the year. The Springboks star equalled Jonah Lomu's record of eight World Cup tries as his team clinched the trophy with a 15-6 win over England on Saturday. Habana, 24, pipped Argentina's Felipe Contepomi and Juan Hernandez, All Blacks flanker Richie McCaw and French centre Yannick Jauzion to the award. Champions South Africa were named team of the year, with Jake White top coach. The winners were selected by an independent panel of judges that was made up of former internationals, with every Test from the start of the RBS Six Nations to the World Cup final taken into account.
  3. Well Johann Sebastian would have had a hard time recognizing his Prelude but he may have dug the reincarnation! The arrangement is credited to Ornette! Nice one
  4. €44,45 from Caiman via Amazon.fr! I think I'll go this way...
  5. Have a Bill Evans Day
  6. Richie Kamuca 'Charlie' (Concord) with Blue Mitchell, Jimmy Rowles, Ray Brown and Donald Bailey
  7. It may be worth checking the FNAC, Brownie. A couple of years ago I managed to buy the Farlow and the Basie for 33 euros each. It may have been a one-off but I did see the Farlow at that price both in the FNAC in Nancy and Metz. FNAC.com sells the box for @137,36 Moreover I have never seen Mosaic boxes at those prices at the FNAC Paris stores!
  8. The Tom Lord Discography has a pretty strong file on the Tommy Dorsey recordings... ... but it's expensive!
  9. Gil Coggins on electric piano in 1973 with Tommy Turrentine, Ronnie Boykins, etc... from Juma Sultan audio archive (a goldmine!)
  10. There are various radiotransmissions/broadcasts of those tunes from the Dorsey orchestra so there is no way of finding out which is which! However the Dorsey/Clooney version of 'Luverly Weather for Ducks' is listed as being recorded in the Summer of 1953!
  11. The Oliver Nelson box is still at €129,44 at Amazon.fr
  12. Barry Galbraith 'Guitar and the Wind' (Decca, mono)
  13. The Springboks played it safe and deserved to win. The game would probably have been more exciting if both teams had aimed for tries instead on relying on penalty kicks!
  14. Once more, the english fans have invaded the city! Drove past the Stade France where the final match will take place this evening, the place was already surrounded by hordes of fans who were waiting for the opening of the damn place. They will have a few more hours to wait! As for the actual game, I'll be rooting for South Africa. Habana is a marvel!
  15. Don't want to move! I Love Paris
  16. Tubby Hayes 'A Tribute: Tubbs' (Spotlite)
  17. The Lord has 1180 entries for Hinton!
  18. Argentina played well and deserved that third place. France did not play well. Their performances before and after their match against the All Blacks were an embarassment
  19. Charles Tolliver Select, disc 3
  20. I'ld hire Sonny Rollins and Cecil Taylor for a private concert, let them play whatever they fancy! And enjoy the fireworks
  21. From the London Times online today
  22. Bernard Peiffer 'Modern Jazz for People Who Like Original Music' (Laurie, mono) with Gus Nemeth and Jerry Segal
  23. Deborah Kerr played a nun to be damned for in at least two splendid films Michael Powell's 'Black Narcissus' and John Huston's 'Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison'
  24. That 'Hard Swing' is the Verve original (labels of the Verve issues from that time carried the trumpeter logo). At that price, I'ld buy it
