  1. They had laminated, gatefold sleeves. I believe there was at least one other issue but I can't remember what it was. The one Chewy mentions was in red vinyl - at least the copies I saw. Chuck (and chewy), thanks for the details. Makes my mouth water. Ah, the endless mysteries and magic of vinyls
  2. That's one of my vinyls saved from the purge. Thanks for the reminder. Love Konitz's dreamy tone on the albums from that era! Now spinning(for old time's sake): Thelonious Monk 'Brillant Corners' (Riverside, mono)
  3. Not a dedicated mono. The album was originally released in stereo. All the BN sessions were released in mono during Alfred Lion's tenure which lasted until mid-1967. When the company was sold to United Artists/Liberty, the new owners abandoned mono. The new albums were recorded in stereo from then on!
  4. I think you would like it ! Great set! My problem with this set is that I already have the vast majority of the material. It took me several years to purchase the original Roost albums. Still pondering if I can afford getting the box even at a special price just to get several additional tracks! I also have the same problem with the Chu Berry box! Wish my wallet was thicker
  5. Should not forget the Andrew Hill solo Select either!
  6. I may get that Sonny Stitt box finally...
  7. Then if the sale is for a good cause, I'll be doing some more business with Mosaic!
  8. Lee Konitz 'Timespan' (Wave)
  9. Have not heard the album but Dave Amram plays kazoo (and numerous other instruments) on his 1971 Flying Fish album 'No More Walls'!
  10. Paul, I could be wrong but probably the Select might include the two Russell sextet albums plus he two big band albums 'New York, N.Y.' and 'Jazz in the Space Age'.
  11. The Ellington in Zurich 1950 release on TCB was mentioned this weekend on The Duke Ellington Corner thread. That Armstrong set looks very interesting. Hope Pops blows the horn he is seen holding on the disc cover
  12. This looks like a collective, even if it is centered on Sunny Murray. The man certainly deserves his dues. It's good to know that a movie is being made about his music. The film crew was on hand in Paris this Spring when Murray performed at L'Atelier Tampon with Sonny Simmons. That turned out to be a very worthy concert!
  13. This was done earlier today. Will report any reply The Mosaic reply came in today: Good suggestion and we will look into it. Thanks for the comments. They are much appreciated.
  14. Never seen (or heard) of those Fortissimo records! They must have looked like fun!
  15. Happy Birthday, Marcello  Keep your eyes open
  16. I would say casual. My wife would say sloppy
  17. We get the same treatment here... we get taken to Google.fr
  18. 'Hyde Park After Dark' (Beehive) with Clifford Jordan, Von Freeman, Cy Touff, etc..
  19. The surprising team from Fiji gave South Africa a hard time before being defeated 20-37 in Marseille yesterday. Wish I had seen more of those Fijians who played exciting rugby throughout the World Cup!
  20. This should be quite a treat Sunny Murray and the New Change of the Century Orchestra The concert will be the centerpiece of the documentary film on Murray now being sot by director Antoine Prum.
  21. Barney Kessel 'What's New' (Mercury, France) French sessions with Georges Arvanitas, Eddy Louiss, Maurice Vander, etc...
  22. She lied and is getting now what she deserves. Don't feel any sadness for her!
  23. Roland Kirk 'The Complete Mercury Recordings', disc 1
  24. Sinfonia was THE record store if you were looking for fresh US vinyls back in the '50s and '60s. The store on the Champs-Elysees is history by now
  25. The French team stood up to the mighty All Blacks right up from the beginning when they confronted the New Zealand players during their pre-match haka war cry: http://news.yahoo.com/photo/071006/483/cd0...540cb4201baae30
