  1. Yes got that one. Thanks to all ...
  2. How many of these teams were expected to do anything? Washington is the big surprise but it seems to me the rest were supposed to suck, and thru 1/4 of the season, they do. Oh and there is the A's, was last season a fluke? I am not even sure what they did with the roster but its pretty bad so far.
  3. and now he goes under the knife. At least that's not another all-star the Yankees will add to a division leading roster in July.
  4. No idea I am afraid Mike was only told that there were "possible" dates in Europe. He did a black and blue date in the 70s led by Oliver jackson but not sure if all were recorded in France or not? Thanks!
  5. Anyone have Bruyninckx handy? I am told that he lists some Percy France recordings in Europe ... if someone can check and indicate if these would just be Doggett recordings of King tracks or possibly something else I'd be most appreciative.
  6. nice story cued up about Percy France ... the whole 13 minutes are worth hearing though.
  7. Jim just said he paid $224 out of pocket for May. Let's get it together folks!
  8. I do not hate the Dodo or either Byrd recordings with wordless vocals ... but that's just me.
  9. I don't think that Pedroia ever starts even semi-regularly for the Sox again, which is pretty sad. But as far as the AL East goes Andujar going back on the DL is not a good sign. I was confused when I heard essentially that he felt "good enough" to return it sounded like they were jumping the gun. Now he's gone 3 for 34, mostly as DH so not many throws to make, and he's back on the DL. Sounds like July to me, if he avoids surgery.
  10. Hey at least UCLA didn't say that as far as they knew, he wasn't married to a Katherine. Seriously though Distinguished Professors aren't making less than six figures and he didn't lose his salary for being on sabbatical. And health benefits are probably pretty sweet too. The part about the living situation and bad consequences of identity fraud/loss of savings could all be true but "can't afford his medical supplies" did not ring true to me from the start, especially now knowing that UCLA says he's still on the faculty, still getting paid. I do hope this gets straightened out soon and we really know for sure.
  11. Nice video of Bill Doggett with Bubba Brooks and by the youtube comments, the drummer also played with the Dave Matthews band? Nice description of how Honky Tonk came about in the last interview segment - and really, did anyone ever tell Bill that his rug looked ridiculous?
  12. Now I'm not so sure either but some prominent people and organizations have said its true ... I don't know what to believe, really.
  13. Yeah there were huge ratings at first but eventually people dropping off I think because it was weird for the sake of weirdness and wasn't getting anywhere on the point of the story which was "who killed Laura Palmer?" I do remember at the start being totally engrossed and entertained with a lot of deadpan laugh out loud moments. The pretty girls helped me thru to the end; never saw the revival a couple of years ago. Anyway I remember a few Mod Squad shows in syndication when I was much younger but did not really take note of Ms. Lipton until Twin Peaks. RIP.
  14. Jim can clarify for himself but I am pretty certain that what he means is "certain kind of American" sounded like stereotypical yahoo, conservative or Trumpist (or both), probably a southerner, whereas Jim is on the left politically but supports the 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms for personal protection. So Paul was lumping him in with a political cohort he is far away from, but with which he has one thing in common.
  15. Totally understood what you meant and I'll say it again: Its ludicrous to think Jim was threatening Paul in any way shape or form.
  16. And I thought a reaction that what Jim said was an actual or even allegorical threat to be completely ludicrous. It's unfortunate that Paul left over it, but I do now recall the way the thread went even after Paul's removal of his posts. I certainly hadn't put that together with his no longer posting.
  17. Among BN-associated artists, no one should miss the Louis Smiths, Junior Cooks, or Horace Parlans. The Smiths especially as he didn't get many chances to record as a leader. And a personal word in favor of all Mike Cochrane dates on the label.
  18. Maybe I'm blessed with not such a great system (I listen on high-end computer speakers when home) but I noticed that mentioned in the liners and am listening to Rochlin spin out lines on On The Trail and don't feel that he is way down at all. Maybe I'm missing his comping when Dexter blows but I really don't hear it as a poor mix or that he's not sufficiently prominent especially when soloing.
  19. Got this Friday listening now: Excellent sound on the main set haven't gotten to the "bonus" material on disc 2. Very nice packaging good photos of Dex especially. As far as the music ... it's Dex. I'm not sure I can recognize a subpar Dex anyway. Because it's Dex, and I love him.
  20. Well you're forgiven as long as you give me the straight poop first on the artist.
  21. Tommy I thought I'd be the first to know.
  22. A break is always good, I was concerned about any sort of health issue preventing him from posting. He's certainly among the oldest of the regular posters so that's where my mind meant when I recently realized that he had stopped chiming in behind me on birthday threads.
  23. Been wondering about this too - six weeks since last post. I hope all is OK.
  24. I am going thru the Stomp Off blog so much material that must be saved but I don't know how that can be done. And there were things he shared with others that I don't think made it onto the blog, recordings from the radio station marathons. God only knows what else might have been in the "tape closet" he mentions on the blog.
