I quite enjoy Giacomo Gates. Here's his lyrics to Lee Morgan's Speedball: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WADMYPHVpsY Here's Giacomo's lyrics to Epistrophy:

Well for what it's worth Dusty's issue was handling a starting staff, not knowing when to get your closer in there. So maybe it will work out OK.

Well I'd say if you saw a scorecard in which, say, David Ortiz was retired 5-3, you can picture where the 3B was when he fielded the grounder, and it wasn't anywhere near 3B. And I am sure there are people who have a system of putting an asterisk or mark where the ball was fielded when the play is way out of the fielder's range unless there's a hellacious shift.

Silly to lay odds so early, sillier to bet now on those odds rather than after March 1 when, even with lagging free agents, everybody who is anybody has a spot on someone's roster. My Dad kept a scorecard for games watched in person but that was a long time ago. And, I have no idea why there would be any doubt that a 3B to 1B putout is scored 5-3 regardless of where the 3B may be positioned. Or do you think the groundball to the outfield should be scored 9-3 since 2B is playing a short rightfield?

I'd say he's on his game, there have been some hysterical strips since he came back. And, I am waiting with baited breath (or should that be breathed?) to get home where my Bill & Opus 2016 t-shirts should be waiting in the mail box.

2015 MLB Season - Let's Play Two!
Dan Gould replied to JSngry's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I think it's 20 years that closers have worked clean innings. A former Met started it, he was toiling in Minnesota at the time. What was his name? I want to say he gave up Hendu's homer that was supposed to win Game 6. (There Brad I eased your suffering by bringing up a pleasant memory. You're welcome.) -

Very glad to hear it Mark. Since I never partook, a thread about pesticide in pot was something I would never have read so I was very surprised to see how that thread had turned and to learn of you situation. Which seems pretty good now, so ... -
2015 MLB Season - Let's Play Two!
Dan Gould replied to JSngry's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Just found out what went down; not watching has been an excellent strategy for me at least in the final series. I do feel badly for Chris and for Brad, they've waited a long time and will have to wait a little longer. But I do have to take note of what I just read: "Collins, who had planned to start the ninth inning with Familia but changed his mind, took the blame for sending Harvey back out. "I said, 'Matt, you've got us exactly where we wanted to get you.' He said, 'I want this game in the worst way.' So obviously I let my heart get in the way of my gut. I love my players, and I trust them. And so I said, 'Go get 'em out,'" Collins said. "It didn't work. It was my fault."" "I want this game in the worst way"? Win or go home, you went 8 and you're begging for the chance at the glory of getting the complete game win? That's a self-centered a-hole right there. Collins has no balls to let himself be manipulated like that (Tell me, does Billy Martin not still go to Goose regardless of what his starter says? Does LaRussa not hand it to Eck anyway?) but I had been excited to hear rumors that Harvey would end up in Boston because he's from New England. Now I am not so sure I want him. -
2015 MLB Season - Let's Play Two!
Dan Gould replied to JSngry's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Pretty weird update if we now have three of each of Jim's posts. Or is it gonna be four? I just got another '2 new replies' alert. WTF? Anyway, I love the fact that Murphy is the goat, I love the fact that the Mets are on the precipice of defeat, but I hate the fact that my friends Brad and Chris are gonna be disappointed. But if they want to be honest, they should realize that the opportunity to even be in the playoffs was a gift from the Nationals. What team other than the 2011 Sox were so hyped and performed so badly over 162 games? Here's hoping for a true fight for the division between the Mets and the Nats next season. They both should be pretty tough. -

May your birthday be happy and your team be sad.

Last night = why I go to bed early unless I really care about the result. -

I agree, it seems very unlikely that Mosaic or Scott would be involved in a true bootleg operation. On that basis, I'll be interested to see what else this label releases in the future - hopefully in better sound.

I have to admit it's years since I ordered anything. I'd say in the early 2000s I ordered 4 or 5 times, maybe more, never had a problem but eventually all my purchases ended up thru eBay or Amazon.

I am shocked to hear this as I would have bet dollars to donuts that I've searched GEMM in the past six months or less and maybe as recently as August or early September. I just got the "connection has timed out" message when I tried to load the page. Doesn't that mean the website exists, can be found, but isn't loading quickly enough?

2015 MLB Season - Let's Play Two!

It's only a pennant race if the result is dependent upon the season records. It hasn't been for a very long time. The loser will nevertheless raise the league champion pennant next opening day. -
