  1. Until 2002 there was no statewide Florida Building Code. All building codes were county-based. In 1994 Dade and Broward county adopted the SFBC in response to Hurricane Andrew. That code formed the basis of the Florida Building Code. If you're concerned about safety in a hurricane, there's only one thing to do with a 1920s-era mansion built on the ocean: tear it down and build a new one.
  2. So obviously the logarithm knows we're dateless, lonely males. Or, it knows that the people who hang out at jazz discussion boards tend to be male, and collectors, and therefore ...
  3. Not to mention putting the accent on the "e" where it belongs.
  4. To get back to what became the main thrust of this thread ... what has happened to aloc? I see that he posted in a Sam Rivers thread about fifteen minutes after he started this one, and hasn't been seen round here since. I know he's not banned because his account would display differently. Was he given a double-dog suspension? Is he embarrassed and left of his own volition? I didn't post with the intent of getting him in trouble. I just wanted him to do a better job of adhering to the rules.
  5. Got this email today: Doesn't this mean that some Amazon Marketplace seller is making CDRs and selling them? Has Amazon transferred rights to manufacture CDRs "on demand" to select Tom, Dick and Harrys? Seems questionable to me but I guess its kosher.
  6. But it should be easy to clean that stuff out, right?
  7. I don't know what the pay-per-click is but it seems to me everyone, and I mean everyone, should make it their business to click on a couple of links everytime they drop by the board. A pain-free to way to defray Jim's costs, and given how often some people "drop by" maybe if people made a concerted effort we'd really make a dent in the costs of maintenance.
  8. Kidney Stem Cell treatment? Does Google Ads know something I don't?
  9. I'd second Lon's rec. on those Argos, as well as the threat starter's mention of the Dave Bailey leader-dates. I was revisiting those a couple of weeks ago. :tup
  10. Chuck and I are in nearly total agreement, though I'd put Lullabuy for a Monster ahead of Something Different. I really dig the tenor trio sound with NHOP on Lullabuy. All three Swiss Nights volumes at the front of the line though. Inspired Dex and Kenny Drew. :tup
  11. Regarding Aloc, it seems that the policing of the rule is inconsistent to say the least. I had to point out his violation last time; have the mods taken note of these other six occasions or let them slide until now? Has banishment been threatened previously? My suggestion is to treat all of this as a "second strike" - if he does it again, do what you must but otherwise, now that he knows what is at stake, let him go in peace.
  12. Is this tagging for posts as well as thread originators? Because you could go crazy with the tags and then really make searches even less effective. For instance someone could make a tangential reference to another musician in a thread on someone else. Now when someone searches by tags for the tangential guy, he gets main discussions about him plus tangential comments buried in another thread. Is that really helpful?
  13. Welcome to the board. Please take this in the spirit in which it was intended: Get to know the board and the people before you start making suggestions about the decor.
  14. Actually I think you'd see more Revision Rhynoplasty patients like this:
  15. It says right in the lower left, "No Ill Effects" so what's everybody yapping about?
  16. Cool beans, Mike. I'm going to check out the clips when I get home and I'll be real interested when the Vaughn CD comes out.
  17. It looks like its just the video that is behind a pay-wall. Audio still streams, which is fine by me - I've made many nice transfers by recording the stream live in Goldwave.
  18. Kudos to Mike for some good choices. I almost wish I'd jumped in on this one as there are a number I am pretty sure I would have recognized, and a much higher than usual number of discs I actually own. BTW anyone who liked the Stallings cut is directed to her Concord releases. Both are worthwile but I lean toward the one with the Gene Harris quartet, natch.
  19. Sounds cool - I hope they get to release everything that's worthy. Couple of nits to pick though - why no list of sidemen in the CD pages and too bad they went with such generic cover designs.
  20. Noj really sums it up for me. I didn't find a lot of entry points into his music but I respect those who found so much to enjoy in it, and the descriptions of the man himself really tell an admirable story. RIP.
  21. I collected Argo but never with the intention of finding everything exhaustively. Prices were definitely easier on the wallet than some other labels. Beehive is a good choice because, iirc, there weren't all that many issues. But I don't think their distribution was very good and its probably pretty challenging to find them all. That rarity probably juices the prices a bit too but I am sure not to BN et. al. levels.
  22. AT least when I saw that 80s CD, I was smart enough to put it back in the rack.
  23. I'm sure the party favors include a bag of his remaindered Columbia CDs.
