  1. "is known to have played at the Cotton Club" Sounds like the belief is based on an archeological dig.
  2. Brings up a question I posed to my wife: Who had/will have more disappointed believers the day after, that nutty preacher who had the end of the world happening last year, or people who believe that Mayan hoo-hah? I'm going with the Mayan believers. But we can talk December 22nd. I imagine some people will be doing some furious Christmas shopping when they realize they're still on the hook for gifts.
  3. If you think its a UFO don't you have to figure out a way to get it up to the surface or to explore it a bit more?
  4. Yes, thanks. Looking forward to Part 2.
  5. Definitely a new one, I think I'd reply to her and ask for an introduction to slutty step-mom. What's surprising is the statement that you'll be in direct contact with the bank. I don't think that's typical in these scams.
  6. Signing Fielder is insane when Cabrera is the starting 1B. Pretty sure he doesn't go back to 3B (where he was hacktastic) so if he DHs what does V-Mart do when he comes back in a year? And as Jim alludes, nine years for a guy that size?
  7. +1.
  8. That's the sum total of his "offenses" for which you believe he's found a toasty spot in hell? Are you f-ing serious? And oh by the way, no one needs to go to college to absorb a "tough guy mentality".
  9. "Ruining 'youts'" isn't a list of offenses. But keep posting. Your character comes through loud and clear.
  10. That's inviting attention from both the authorities and rights holders.
  11. With the talent the Giants have on both sides of the ball, is there any way they aren't the favorites? the only way the Pats win is if Brady plays out of his mind and the Giants offense forgets to show up.
  12. Has anyone noticed this Google Ad? Talk about a voyage of the damned. Can we raise a fund to bribe the captain to run the ship aground? :bad:
  13. This one is kinda tough to make out: But you can't miss it in this view:
  14. That's one way to escape. Thanks for showing everyone the kind of person you are.
  15. Absolutely! A very nice recording, imo. The follow up is very much worth hearing, too.
  16. Only if Miles is subbing for Lee Morgan on those great Messengers albums - just for a completely opposite approach.
  17. Mega isn't "holding" cash like a bank does. They are allegedly facillitating copyright violations and selling advertising and memberships in the process. By the allegations, they've made a shitload of money doing what they do.
  18. There's certainly no reason not to get the Curtis Amy record but I don't know if I'd describe Booby's solo space as "ample" as opposed to "typical" for a sideman. If you like Amy you ought to enjoy it but if you're looking for a lot of Hutcherson you'll probably be disappointed.
  19. According to the NY Times obit Shuggie and his other sons survive him, as well as his wife of 70 years, Phyllis.
  20. The end appears to be approaching for Gary Carter: Details
  21. Theoretically but a super muddy field can kind of mess up a superior pass defense like the one the Niners have, or just make things more random because DBs who are great at coverage may slip, and so may really good receivers. I think the running game advantage depends on whether conditions change the offensive game plans.
  22. Thanks. Pretty sure I'd rather read his memoir than Midnight at the Barrelhouse: The Johnny Otis Story by a professor of black studies and sociology. It may have its place but I'd much rather read from the guy who experienced it, not the sociological ramifications asserted by an academic.
  23. Isn't this a cult with one member, Aric? One member who has dreams about Mobley visiting him doesn't a cult make. The rest of us enjoy his music a lot. BFD. Isn't this just a backhanded slap at his fans, that they've really just "drunk the Kool-Aid" but enlightened people still see him as dispensible?
  24. If its true, its sad that another important figure in American music of the last century is gone. I came close to ordering one of his books for myself over the holidays but decided to keep to my budget. Can anyone recommend between the several books he wrote? I'd be more interested in his experiences in the music than his socio-political views but I understand if one can't really be separated from the other. So I guess its a question of "which one concentrates the most on the music?"
