  1. We can do a little better than that.
  2. I'm not sure which one you're referring to, but for the record, I did have a thing for Kimberly.

  7. Got a reply from Lance Evans, webmaster for www.franklyjazz.com - he hopes to finish the site sometime this year, and at that point he hopes to be selling video of his father's program. Here's hoping he does!

  11. And yes, Tom Gordon should definitely be a worry, just as Foulke is for the Sox. Based on age and past consistency, I expect Foulke to come out of it quicker than Flash, but they gotta get their shit together soon.
  12. Dave, I don't think Torre's job is at stake so much as Cashman's. Note there's no more talk about re-signing him, and his contract expires after this year. As for Matsui, yeah, he's fundamentally sound but he's not the guy to patrol a big patch of turf. And his quick release and generally accurate arm aren't going to work too well in centerfield either. And who knows how Womack handles left? I don't see him gunning a lot of people down, though I imagine his speed will allow him to cover some ground. I think this is going to be temporary and that it was partially forced by Bernie's injured elbow. If he can at least throw like he did last year, he's probably still a better choice than Matsui. It will probably all depend on what this rookie does at second base. If he forces his way into the lineup, than the shake-up stays, or maybe they move Bernie back to center if his elbow problem clears up.
  13. He came to New York City and played at the Blue Note last summer. I don't know what his plans are right now, though.
  14. May 2nd and the Yanks are makin' major changes: On top of which, Randy Johnson is missing a start tonite with a sore groin, and Steve Karsay, surely one of the worst free agent signings in history, was designated for assignment, so the Yanks are eating his 22.5 million dollar contract. Did he even pitch 20 innings in his Yankee career? I remember when they signed him thinking, Jesus, the rich get richer, what do they need Karsay for? and the next thing you know, he's got arm problems, he misses two years, he's ineffective, he's gone. But back to these changes: Is Matsui quick enough to be an everyday centerfielder? I don't see him covering ground any better than Bernie does, and his arm is no better. And Womack hasn't played the outfield in like six years, and never played left. I think they just want to shake things up by getting this kid in to play second and see what he can do. Its kinda sad though if this is the end of Bernie Williams as an everyday player.

  22. I can understand the appeal, but that wasn't a day at the park, that was something else entirely. Part of the baseball experience is the plastic seat and the waiting in line. Its also the sun on your face and the smell of the grass, the yells of the vendors, etc. You didn't get none of that in your "luxury" box.
  23. Marty, Its hard to say that the O's aren't for real, given their bats, but I have to wonder about whether their pitching will hold up. But then again, the Yanks proved last year that you can have inconsistent pitching and bomb your way to 100+ wins. Talk to me in July, but at this point I would not count out the possibility that the Yanks or the Sox will be on the outside looking in come October, as the Orioles may break up the Division or Wild Card streak.
  24. You don't get no respect until: You get the man's record right (5-0) You WIN something other than the division lead on May 1.
  25. Deos that mean the Curtis Amy is available? Surely this is the only known video of Dupree Bolton. I think there are only 2 sound recordings on which he plays. At some point it was (I borrowed the tape from a board member) but if you notice my post above yours, it appears that something may be happening with Frank Evans and his Frankly Jazz broadcasts.
