Should I stay in Philly or move to Seattle?
Dan Gould replied to Peter Johnson's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I voted for Seattle because you intend to move there, you have a good offer on the table, you're prepared to deal with a bi-coastal marriage, and most of all, you intend to move their eventually, so it really seems like the right time to me. Good luck in whatever you choose, Peter! -
Man lay dead in bed for two years-Condo fees
Dan Gould replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Shouldn't his estate sue to get the condo fees back? I mean, HE might have authorized the charges, but once he died, the estate controls his $$. And its not as if he got any value from the condo association as he slowly mummified. -
Ironic this should appear today, as this past weekend I became totally fed up with myself and have re-dedicated myself to what has to be done. The keys for me are steady exercise and a weakness for snacking (what's the point of a small, healthy lunch if you pig out when you get home?). So: #1, I've started to clear dollar bills out of my wallet before I go to work: No singles, no $$ for the vending machine. #2, Each day, I'm going thirty minutes on the exercycle plus strength training as soon as I get home. This kills two birds with one stone: getting the exercise in, and doing it at a time I might otherwise be snacking. Now, once I get to dinner time, I'm good for the rest of the night. I just wish I could find a tennis partner, as I think that would be far more effective a conditioning activity than the exercycle. But if I don't, I am going to give serious consideration to an approach that worked great about ten years ago: Two-a-days. The question is, could I stand to trim fifteen more minutes from my sleep in order to do that, and will my legs hold up to the pounding? (the weight started creeping up when I stopped using a stairmaster, something that happened partially due to the development of severe leg fatigue. A strange thing, actually, since at one time I was easily going fourty five plus minutes on the stepper 4 or 5 times a week. Then suddenly my legs started protesting, and I cut back and cut back and so long as I was playing tennis you couldn't tell the difference, but now ...

Where's that smilie for "my lips are sealed"?

There's not been an ID of track 5 yet. Were you asking about track 7 instead?
-
Well, extra kudos to you, because if you had scanned the other posts, you'd have seen that Tooter ID'd the song.

Most dominate athlete in the Olympics
Dan Gould replied to wolff's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Yours wasn't the only one. Did anyone notice a few months ago when Miss Finch knocked off Anna Kournikova on ESPN's Page 2 contest? I din't know you had to be a successful athlete to qualify as a Page 2 Girl! -
I would not have guessed that this would be gotten through the guitarist! Leave it to Jim R. -I never heard the guitarist on anything other than this date, Jim works from spotting the guitarist to IDing the track.

Nearly a thousand more posts than I do, but you're the one who has a life. I tell you what, 7/4: Its not your fault your business is failing. And its not Dubya's fault either. Its clearly the board's fault. If you hadn't wasted all those work days padding your post count when you might have been figuring out ways to save the business, it wouldn't be in such dire straits. So don't blame me. Don't blame Dubya. Blame the board.

No asshole I'm doing what you spend your days doing: wasting bandwidth and everyone's time with drawn out bullshit posts, which are the only reason why your post count is as high as it is. Like I said, take away these posts The so-called Babe posts The personal attacks and the non-substantive "Bush is an idiot" posts and what do you have? I'd bet about fifty or 100 substantive posts that actually belong in a BB dedicated to jazz.

Oh, yeah right. Who spent the better part of a week disrupting my A to Z thread and insulting me? Leading Evan to tell you quit it and delete your crap from my thread so people can read through it without your bullshit. No, you don't care a bit about my presence. Dan, you've always acted like an asshole to me. No respect here. From your first attacks in the political forum and running away from that forum to that drunken rant on the Babe thread Saturday night...and todays obnoxious posts...it's all just flame bait after that first time you gave me a personal attack out of the blue for voicing my opinion in the Political forum. And if you want to post your CD collection on the internet, author a web page so there's no dialog about your damm collection and you don't have an insecurity fit if someone makes some smartass remark. Read the thread, asshole. Quite a few people are interested, and quite a few have posted questions about the CDs I've listened to so far. In short, fuck off.

Glad to hear it, Evan! And no, Mike, the theme isn't the blues or covers of famous tunes!
-
Real simple. Do a search of your posts. Delete everything that consists solely of some variation of Delete your "contributions" to the Babe Thread. What do we have left? Insults directed at me, and insults directed at Dubya, and that's about it. That's called padding your posts. Your time here is dedicated to it.

No.

You should be embarrased, since it came with its own sleeve pocket! Seriously, I hope it shows up, there's much more good stuff on Disc 1!

Glad you enjoyed it!

I have no idea why there'd be distortion, but, assuming you own a burner, I'd make a burn of the burn and see if that fixes it. Also, if you are burning on the PC, whatever program you use should have the capability of extracting the CD-format tracks into wav files. Then an audio program would let you listen to them in that format, see if there's still distortion. Then you can reburn.

Dave Brubeck this coming Saturday...
Dan Gould replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
I think Aggie is right. If I remember correctly, my Father-in-Law claimed an affection for jazz and cited Miss Matsui as a favorite. He even sent a disc of hers to my wife. We hated it immediately and couldn't listen to it all the way through. -
From the link: Initial focus group testing in late 2003 brought exceptional response. Soon, a beta testing will begin on a local radio station. Plans are for a nationwide rollout of the format protocol in early 2005. What's amazing is the idea that this will work and sweep the nation. The people who want to hear "It's My Party" or, heaven help us, "The Lion Sleeps Tonite," want to hear the ENTIRE song. On top of that, the biggest complaint radio listeners have is DJ chatter over songs. So what's gonna happen? Will they produce a 90 second song edit with a thirty second ramp for the jock to talk over? No freakin' way this thing takes off. One other thought: there are Christian fascists who do their own editing of Hollywood films for language or sexual content, clean it up for other Christian Fascists. If I recall correctly, this has led to lawsuits as a violation of the copyrights of the film owners. Is this kind of music editing any different?
