  1. Yeah, with our equity, I might manage a couple of videos, but no Dusty Groove (the bastards!)!
  2. And I had to go buy a house and watch my music budget go to zero ...
  3. I don't know if they are all hybrids or not. I picked up the Higgins releases at one of his concerts, he contributed a deskfull of CDs as a fund raiser for the jazz society and it didn't occur to me to even look. Of course, I do expect that it will play right on my regular CD changer, which is fortunately now going to be used in the new media room. And I guess $20 is pretty good, since Cadence sells Venus for the same price and I'd have to pay for shipping.
  4. Funny though how its "Blue Note" but none of them are Blue Note releases. Another thumbs up on the Vi Redd.
  5. try gemm.com, or amazon. Amazon tends to have the OOP CDs, used, through their affiliated sellers. At least I think they do. Gemm, be very careful because a lot of sellers simply list everything, and their ability to get "special orders" is even less than Tower, and the difference is, they may charge your credit card in the meantime. Not worth the hassle, so check the seller's feedback and also whether they have things in stock in the first place. If you're interested in Japanese pressings (I'm not sure what's in print at the moment) try Mr. Tanno at early records. http://www.earlyrecords.com You can get his e-mail from the site, and if its in print in Japan, he can locate it.
  6. I sent an e-mail, too, Mike, so he should definitely get the message. I noticed that he last posted on the 8th, so he hasn't been back since I started the thread. Hopefully he's ready, or someone can step up.
  7. Up once again for Alexander!
  8. Weizen, The other one is solo piano. I picked them both up but was annoyed to discover that: A. They were SACD discs B. Our new DVD/CD/CDR changer won't play them, and the other CD player is packed up for the big move. And now, in fact, the CDs are packed up, too, so a month later and I can't report on either one. However, I can report that the cover for the solo CD is quite nice:
  9. Congratulations, Jim! Since you're a new Daddy, I'm going to go gentle on your BFT.
  10. Yes, we do have an answer, Johnny Nash, Composer's Choice Argo 4038 and the '72 smash, "I Can See Clearly Now" I brought it up because when I saw the LP on ebay and the named suddenly clicked, it made me wonder what kind of LP he made. Anyone know?
  11. Yes, but I don't think he had a number one hit single, and his albums were on Cadet, not Argo.
  12. Who recorded for Argo Records in the 60s and went on to have a number one pop smash in the 70s?
  13. Wasn't there a 'Round Midnight comp a few years back?
  14. I was going to nominate you for "King" but since Sangrey is 95% Native American, maybe that ought to be "Chief"?
  15. When I first got my 5 disc changer, I used the random play function a few times, loading up, say, all of my Mobley discs. But then I started to realize that the random play wasn't really random-some discs were ignored for way, way too long. I mean, I know that if you are flipping a coin, you could get ten "heads" in a row but still have a fair coin being used, and that the odds of the next "head" is still 50/50. But when your "random play" function keeps selecting tunes from discs 1, 3 and 5 for thirty minutes, I think its fair to assume that the function isn't fully functional. So, being a bit annoyed I stopped using it altogether. Never got that much out of it anyway.
  16. I believe that once a BFT is shipped, the next compiler is supposed to start soliciting addresses, so Alex ....
  17. What Brownie said.
  18. Haven't cleared cookies and I haven't had to log in for many a moon, so I can't help.
  19. When I was younger, the episode that struck me best was the one with the stranded bus at the diner, with the reports of aliens, which ends with the revelation of one guy having three arms and the cook having an extra eye in the center of his forehead. I think the suddeness of the ending is what really caught my attention. Since then I've seen most of the episodes, usually when a marathon is run on Sci-Fi (or before cable, in syndication). Too many great episodes to list, though. Speaking of Rod Serling, coming up on our Netflix list is one of his teleplays that I believe won an Emmy, Requiem For a Heavyweight. Saw it on PBS years ago, definitely want to see it again. Serling was a great storyteller as well as a unique on-screen talent.
  20. Brad, LeDonne is a very nice player, with multiple discs out on Criss Cross and Doubletime, most are worth hearing for sure.
  21. Here's one group of revelers:
  22. Jim said he'd be out of town. Joe and Randy never RSVPd. Must have been raised by wolves, but we still like them!
  23. Now things are starting to swing. If we can get a few more people in the "room", can someone do a screenshot and post the image?
  24. OK, now we got a party going! Hey Peter, Happy Organissimo Birthday to you
  25. Nice job on the cake, John! Looks yummy .... but at the moment I'm all alone.
