i saw 3 volumes of this DVD 'Jazz Shots from the West Coast' , at newbury comics . anyone know the quality of these . a lot of Shelly manne and Frank Rosolino performances on these.

Listening to the debut recordings box set -disc 1 .....found this box brand new this past weekend for $12.99 !!!

This is it. It was another Rhino Handmade that is most likely long out of print now. It is a beautiful album, one of Scott's best (IMO). Already mentioned in post #24. i found a used copy of the Rhino Handmade Falling in love for $7.99 !! about a year ago. Some of the Handmade stuff get's sold off to stores and if you creep around as much as i do you might stumble across a copy. It's a beautiful record and sound's different from the Savoy's. I think Gerald Wilson did some of the arranging onthis record.

It's funny since the start of this thread, I'am seeing a lot of these pop up in the cd store ? weird. saw one today ..a trumpet player named Joe Wilder ... anyone ever hear of this guy ?

Yes they did , but is everyone's box kinda printed badly the blacks are gray or did they do this on purpose like a ghosted effect ?. the booklet cover and the insets are printed with rich blacks ....i wonder if Mosaic is trying to curb cost?

I have the Roots of Funk 1/2 and yes it's OOP just like the rest of the volumes which are the History. There is some rare stuff on Root's , BUT has a healthy dose of the usual suspects . Cissy Strut, Spreadin honey, Funky broadway pt.1 , Tramp...... dan , i would get the box set just for the 2 Sly cut's alone..ton's of rare stuff i have never heard on What It Is !!!

I have 30 Mosaic box set's and 4 of the select boxes and i have never once thought about the resale value or how collectable they are. The value is in the music ,each one a small treasure to enjoy for years to come!
