  1. AM sounded great coming out of a transistor radio about the size of you palm while sitting on a beach in Hyannis in the hot sun with sand stuck to your leg's and kid's walking by kicking more sand on your back.
  2. Agree with this. Used to be my favorite store in the world, now I barely go in there. Anyways, don't mean to hijack the thread! ...and I'll 3rd it....was there this weekend....what a mess! .......and used cds for $8.99/$9.99 is just too much! There are stores in the Boston area where the used prices are in the $7.99 - $9.99 range.
  3. I picked up that soundtrack a few years back. Excellent !!!! It's funny i was in Cheapo's in Cambridge and the owner is pretty knowledgable and he was unaware that this was reissued on cd. I actually found this at a FYE believe it or not . The sound is very good .
  4. Yesterday i also saw The Queen Alone by Carla Thomas , remastered with bonus cut's. Looks like Concord are doing some much needed reissuing of the STAX catalog.
  5. just picked this up and WOW, can't believe this went unreleased all these years !
  6. Even for self employed ? you don'y have to pay once you hit $97,500 ?
  7. Sorry to keep bugging you about this - I just find equity in the tax system to be an interesting topic. It's actually the opposite - you pay FICA on the first $x of income, not on income above $x. Last year I think it was $90K, so that after you had earned $90K you no longer paid FICA. This year I believe it is some random amount, like $92,748 (just made that up). I think the rationale behind this is to make sure everyone puts something into the system, but to not force people who have the means to invest on their own to tie up their money in a low-return compulsory vehicle. I'm not saying I agree with the rationale (I actually strongly disagree), but nonetheless I believe that is the rationale. WOW .i didn't know that ..probably becasue it's been a while since i made over $90,000
  8. Also , to be rich you have to BUST your ASS. MY good friend has been running his own business since he was 16 ..He is now 45 and sold his company for 2 million !!. But he sacrificed a lot in life .......mainly cause of his personality .Very driven , money is his hobby in fact it's his life . When i go on vacation he doesn't ask me how it was ? he want's to know how much it cost me ! While i was out having fun and going to concert's and traveling , he was working around the clock . But he is very comfortable ....BUT doesn't have many friend's .
  9. All i know is after i did my taxes this year my accountant said ..." Don't forget you need to pay 15 % for FICA " ......aaarrrgghhh......i 'am pretty sure that even if i showed $5,000 grand . I would have to give 15% for FICA. Are you saying that an employee doesn't start paying Fica until after a certain amount of income ?
  10. Is that a flat tax rate of 25% for self-employed individuals? 15 % of that is FICA ....most people who are employed pay 7.5 % and their employers pay the other 7.5 % self employed pay the full 15 % and then your taxes on top of that , which can vary of course because of deductions.
  11. I have owned a business for 18 years. The simple fact is that America does not care too much for small business. With self employment tax at 25 % , the constant battle with landlords, verizon, alarm companies ...you name it, the costs just keep rising ! And my day rate has not changed in at least 12 years!!!!
  12. I like those covers. In fact, I hate selling off an individually-issued cd with a nice cover like that in exchange for buying a Mosaic box of the same music. I miss some of the covers of the individual cds which I now own under Mosaic boxes. I agree , i wish Mosaic would just reprint the covers on the jewel cases instead of the same pic from the cover of the box ..over and over....
  13. Haven't got any of those, but they're on my list. Do you have information or just a vague feeling? MG No info really just a feeling, you can get these on the concord site . But on Amazon the only copy of The Chant goes for around $49.99. Does anyone know for sure what Concord is going to keep in print and what titles they are going to let go out of print ?
  14. I have the 3rd edition and it's starting to fall apart , i would love to see an upraded version . and even though you can find this on line , i like leafing thru a book while listening.
  15. How about a Mosaic Select on Ronnie Foster !!!!!
  16. I think the SI jinx is over ....sox won the series , everytime they had Brady on the cover he won 3 rings even Beyonce is doing Great ....all jinxes are over !!!!!!!!
  17. I was really excited about Pap as a starter ....he seems like he could develop like Clemens . He has really been throwing heat this spring too.
  18. I was not that impressed with Sweey Revival, i will have to give it another spin .BUT on the other hand Two-Headed Freap is the Bomb !!!!!
  19. I just picked up all 3 Sam Jones cd's on riverside figuring these might also go OOP The Chant The Soul Society Down Home These are great!!!, never hear much talk about these.
  20. I bought one at Circuit City for $11.99 and it came with a FREE STAX T-Shirt !!!!!!! It sound's GREAT !
  21. Newbury Comics without a doubt !! , believe it or not the prices are usually lower in the stores .
  22. still has one in him ?..He just put out a Very Good album at the end of 05. Chaos and Creation in the backyard.......but rumors are that the new tracks are produced by the same guy that did Driving Rain , so they may be older songs , maybe leftovers from that album which was released in 2001.
