  1. Oh great. I'd looked but I had missed it. Thanks!
  2. Toshiyuki Miyama & The New Herd – Tsuchi No Ne (Columbia, 1973)
  3. Karl Drewo - Clap Hands Here Comes Charlie (Metronome, 1961) Another nice one from the Euro Modernism thread.
  4. Wayne Shorter, Dave Liebman, Richie Beirach, Eddie Gomez and Jack DeJohnette - Tribute to Coltrane, Live Under the Sky (Columbia, 1987)
  5. Ronnie Ross - Cleopatra's Needle Enjoying what I can hear of this one. Does anyone know any others by Ronnie Ross or his tenor player Art Ellefson that they'd recommend?
  6. I can't say I know him well either to be honest. I think I may have had it on my list to look into from the euromodernism thread a few months back.
  7. Thanks! Supposedly, according to Discogs, the Selection is the earlier, and has full liner notes, which didn't translate to a detailed Discogs entry, however.
  8. Mark Turner - Yam Yam (Criss Cross, 1995) I have come to the conclusion that I enjoy Turner far more as a younger player. He's never been my number one, but there's a feel of excitement to this release.
  9. Didn't he die in 1981 though?
  10. Does anyone know when French/Belgian trumpeter Morales' Miles Inspiration album was recorded and released? Unusually, discogs has nothing.
  11. Sadao Watanabe Quartet Sextet - Jazz & Bossa (Takt 1967)
  12. Strata Institute - Cypher Syntax (JMT, 1989)
  13. David Murray Octet - Murray’s Steps (1982)
  14. I'm interested in hearing the responses to this. From the looks of his social media, he has an enormous box set of duets brewing, or something like that.
  15. Currently listening to a miserable parsimonious stream of this wonderful music and wondering why on earth i didn't buy it when it was released.
  16. Von Freeman and Frank Catalano - You Talkin' To Me?! (Delmark, 2000).
  17. Ray Bryant - Lonesome Traveller (Cadet) My first time with this one. A pretty unique way with R&B.
  18. Elvin Jones - Live at the Village Vanguard (Enja, 1968/74) Some of the best George Coleman out there.
  19. Art Blakey and his Jazz Messengers, with Sabu and a Bongo - Cu-Bop (Jubilee, 1957)
  20. Ha ha! So true. Vinyl’s for dads. Streaming is so corporate. The cool kids are all on laserdisc. I’m gradually feeling my way in. Mostly at the moment I’m checking out what I can find with Basil Coetzee or Sipho Gumede on. Between them they seem to be on a lot of the most well known releases from the 70s and 80s.
  21. I don’t own it, but it’s streamable, which I think is enough for me in this instance. It is a strong release, but I don’t see myself listening to it all that much if I owned it. This one, on the other hand, I would bite my arm off to buy, although from Discogs, I don’t think that would come close to covering the price.
  22. The London Experimental Jazz Quartet - Invisible Roots (Shout!, 1974) All the way from London, Canadia.
  23. Stan,eg Turrentine - Pieces of Dreams (Fantasy, 1974) My first ever listen to this. I’d always avoided it because it looked drippy and CTI-ish, which it certainly is, but I’m impressed at how excellent it is.
  24. Jazz twitter and Instagram are 87% pictures of this record, and 13% fire emoji replies.
