  1. They look like cool guys
  2. Soil & "Pimp" Sessions – Pimpin' Japanese band from the 00s. Very limited stuff.
  3. Sorry about your uncle I inherited a lot of my father in law's vinyl. Similar situ.
  4. Tough Tenor Favorites by Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis and Johnny Griffin Every time I listen to a Griffin and Lockjaw record it is better than the last one.
  5. RIP Sad news.
  6. Herb Ellis - Charlie Byrd – Guitar/Guitar
  7. Masayoshi Takanaka – T-Wave His records always have such great covers, and the internet loves them. I listen to them every once in a while to remind myself what they sound like and why I do t really care for them.
  8. Charles Kynard – Your Mama Don't Dance
  9. I hope so. I have seen it a few times on Instagram so there's hope, even if it is just a download-only Bandcamp thing. It sounds quite a lot like 70s spiritual jazz, so if you like Strata East / Black Jazz, etc., you might enjoy it. Worth tracking down.
  10. Sarah Vaughan - A Time in My Life Not really a jazz album, but actually a good record.
  11. Pretty obscure. I found it on a blog back in the day. Worth hearing.
  12. John Coltrane - A Love Supreme
  13. John Coltrane - Interstellar Space
  14. I think that's what threw me. Plenty of other jazz guys had very successful disco careers at the time so it made sense to me, save that I couldn't understand why GB had so few leader dates if he was such a feature of the disco scene.
  15. Bohannon – Summertime Groove Wrong Bohan(n)on, it turns out, but I'm committed now and its not the kind of record you turn off.
  16. Oh no. RIP.
  17. I hadn't realised until today that George Bohanon was not The same person as disco hitmaker Bohannon. I had always struggled to understand why his discography was comparatively meagre.
  18. Is this the only record he was on? As @JSngry says, he is fantastic on this record.
  19. It does have good stuff that other places don't have. But not exactly a joyful experience. Now spinning: Von Freeman - Have No Fear
  20. It's half of the lower floor of a Rag & Bone in Beak Street. No music, just three shelves, ultra corporate, smug and unhelpful staff. Apparently the aim is to replenish from the warehouse every week. The stock is actually decent (although hardly liberal) and not overpriced. There was a Wildflowers comp in there that I would have purchased if I had space for it.
  21. Henry Cow - Leg End The one year old pulled this one out of the racks (and growing issue) and I figured it was time to give it a spin.
  22. Duke Ellington and Johnny Hodges – Side By Side I don't really like Back to Back (too relaxed and bluesy) so I had never bothered to listen to this one until today. Glad that I did because it is a completely different record!
  23. I suspect that it was a post about it that you did two or three years ago that alerted me to it in the first place, so many thanks!
  24. A big hit with the family. First time in years that when a record has finished I have just flipped it over and played it again.
  25. Sonny Stitt at the DJ Lounge Bought this magnificent record today from the rather depressing new Rough Trade Soho.
