Capt. John Handy - All Aboard A four horn front line and ragtimey piano makes for a pretty indigestible record.

Oh no! That's too young I was listening to his excellent work on that Charlie Byrd record just last night.

What rock music are you listening to? Non-Jazz, Non-Classical.

It was triggered by listening to that new Abhorrent Expansive record with Craig Taborn on. I always enjoy this one, although I rarely remember to listen to it. In the fusiony death metal world I tend to reach for Gorguts and Cynic first. -

Fantastic! When I upgraded it was like having a whole new LP collection!

Adia Vanheerentals – Taking Place Solo soprano in specific settings. Much more about the settings that the sonorities, so it distinguishes itself from the Lao Dans or John Butchers of the world. Those guys never played to a bunch of chickens. I'm really astonished at how hard the Teagarden Verves are to find second hand. I'd have assumed that this music shifted units, but I'm not sure how many times I've encountered them in the wild.

Sam Ostropov - Blight Music Fun idea: a recent record exploring the kind of music that the David Murray Octet and others like it made in their prime. There are lots of roads that were never fully explored.

Helluva cover, there.

A trombone, bass, bass and bat quartet.

Ted Nash and his nephew Ted Nash, apparently. Who knew.

Is this real? Are you actually on a jazz cruise? Which one and is it good?

Another question for the Latin fans on here: where else do you go to discuss this music? Reddit seems pretty rotten. Apologies to the admins for this, but I think it's fair to ask given that this isn't meant to be a Latin music forum. I have a burning desire for more recommendations in the beloved P-SMTiCoBBFtifNYoC genre.

Well, "pre-salsa musica tropicale in conjunto or big band format that isn't from New York or Cuba" it is, then I guess. If anyone has some great recommendations within that snappily titled non-genre, please flag them here too.
