  1. Can we change the name of this thread to something more neutral?
  2. Oh no! I hadn't realised she was ill.

  7. I'll be in Scottsdale, Arizona early next year. Any recommendations for second hand record shops there? Or in Phoenix, which looks close by to me on a map (although you never know with the US...).
  8. So good. The Mann had an answer to everything.
  9. There's always more Herbie Mann albums and you never know whether or not they will be excellent, terrible or average.
  10. Ha! I hadn't heard of this. How is it?
  11. Can you listen to samples?

  15. Is Botti on those?!
  16. The records are pretty ersatz though, whether he can play or not.
  17. This is a great record.
  18. Quite right. John Zorn is for the cheese course.
  19. That's true, but you never know. My main problem with Botti has always been it's fake jazzness. Either play jazz or don't. Botti's records aren't even really smooth jazz. Those records are to acoustic jazz what the Disney castle is to Al Kerak: technically a castle in form only. But his playing itself is fine. On other people's records he's someone to listen out for with interest, even if not necessarily the highest expectations.
  20. Gary Burton Quartet - Times Square
  21. She's massive on some parts of the Internet.
  22. I'm quite interested to hear how this is.
